Good post, neas.
I'm another one who's largely stopped posting - the newspapers do my work for me far more effectively. There can be few FTB's who haven't read a crash headline now.
But I do enjoy it when it's my 'time of the month' - the time when Nationwide and Halifax prices are released. Then it's nice to pop in and discuss the figures with people who care - my OH couldn't care less, lol!
Also, on a personal level, I feel the need to keep posting after absences like now (just got back from lovely trip to Spain to see in-laws who conveniently retired there) just to quell the rumours I've been banned. Most tiresome.....
Oh - did I miss anything exciting while I was away?0 -

Best of luck, hope all goes well....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I hadn't bothered to post the details because just recently it didn't seem to matter what side of the argument you were on, people just jumped down your throat whatever you said. I used to enjoy the debate on this forum, but not any longer.
We have found a place we really like so fingers crossed it will go through this time.
I realise that it will probably be worth less than we paid in a year's time, but have done everything we can to minimise any risk. We are paying 83.8% of the original 2007 asking price and, whilst we need a mortgage, we have managed to keep it to a fairly low level. More importantly, we are paying just slightly double the price it sold for in 2000, when the average price has almost tripled in that period, so I believe.
Finances aside we will be settled in a house we like and which suits our needs in an area we know and like. It's difficult to put a price on that.
Edit: And we have room for the ponies to live with us - just need a cart for when the diesel runs out/gets too expensive and plenty of room to grow our own food when we need a 2nd mortgage to go to Tescos.
Oh thank goodness for that... I only log on late at night (once Real Life is over for another day) to see if
A; PN has found a great job.(The nationals are really missing out on an addictive columnists for saddos like me who but a paper purely because it has a column by Liz Jones, India Knight or Brian Sewell)
B; Merlin has found a great house at a price he is happy with (and the vendors, of course)
C; is the Official Recession starting?? (as I have just lived through my own personal one for the past 3 and half years) and I would very much like to be forewarned when I have to join in on everyone elses).
D; if Zammo hasn't reached his job centre targets and posts that his property dream has been dashed by some nasty Mr Mock Tudor man / consultant type, employed by the Govt to improve efficiency.
E; that everyone is well and coping with whatever life throws at them.0 -
PN.... go to Jersey for a trip...JC isn't a pregnant man....got to be worth a visit. Thye are rare over 40. Mine is forced to remain at a comfortable 4 mnths....he notices as his servings shrink and there is absolutely no junk in the cupboards every time he sneaks up to 5 months.
It's almost my lifes work...keep OH trim. How sad!0 -

Where in spain ?
There'll be none of these trips on a whim when you finally buy a house carol.
Not missed anything and we certainly haven't missed you :cool:0 -

Partly for the reason you describe above;
Partly because the forum was/is still being frequented by idiots on both sides of the argument jumping on anything they didn't agree with and preventing reasoned discussion;
Partly because, as PN says, the arguments have been done to death; and
Partly because we are in the process of buying somewhere and I don't want to hear about prices dropping any further......[/quote]
