vodafone scam!!!!!!!

:mad: i recently discovered on my vodafone bill charges for messaging and browsing so i foned customer services to ask what these charges were,i was told i had subscribed to a text service which i had not,i was and am receiving a text which i dont read as its rubbish but am being charged £1.50 per txt i recieve when i open the message.i explained this ws illegal and i had not done this on my fone,then after an hour on the fone i was told i could get a refund from november 07 as this was as far as they were checking my account then they said no so i asked for the manager and had to wait 10 more mins,still no ansar then the same person who put me on hold said this is what the manger says so i said i want to talk to them and he said no!! you will have to get a call back which can take 48 hours so i said yes and i will fight for my money back as this is unlawfull.anyone with info to this please say so.

Good God that was hard to read.

There's a longer thread here about unsolicited text messages and it seems there is a scam whereby companies sign people up without them opting in (which would be illegal), but it appears to not be in the interests of the mobile phone companies to sort the problem out.

What number are the texts coming from? Have you found out who they are? Have you contacted them and asked for your money back? Have you replied "STOP"?

this scam is very common.
Vodafone take a 20% share of the revenue before passing the rest on to the scammers.
the other networks can take upto 50%.

What information is given on your bill? the short code, the company contact details etc

Don't ignore these messages. As stated find out what they are and send a STOP text to them. What number is it and how much have you been stung for. phone not fone..sorry, but that bugs the hell out of me. :rolleyes:

Hi i know exactly where you are coming from. Have a look at my vent on vodafone eforum board and see how pathetic it is. Also make sure you complain in writing and report to phone pay plus. What are the shortcodes out of interest.

Vodafone are adding an charge to account bar from 1st August 08. Hopefully will stop this kind of thimng happening but you have to request it is added to your account
