orange call waiting not working?

Orange keep telling me different things- the call waiting can't be activated on my phone, so i phoned them up and he said, 'well, it should work it's set up to work' but when i phoned again today the man told me you cant have call waiting on a payg phone- but my friend is on orange payg and he has it??
Who is right? I even tried the *43# method but it came back as failed. I previously used virgin call waiting in the same unlocked phone with no problems. Any ideas? Thanks

ring them up and ask them to do a sim update it may work it all depands on the sim as my old sim had it but the new one don't

Call waiting is an option available to PAYM customers. For PAYG customers it is dependant on the sim. Old sims have it, but new ones don't. Sometimes it dissapears when you change tariff or have updates etc.

If you had it and now you don't - it won't come back as it's deactivated.
