Used (0191) 501 3482 answered straight away. Offered £5 for 3 months not able to authorise 6. Also offered £7.50 for 6 Month. £15 saved in 8 minutes.

I managed to get it for £7.50 aswell.

When asked why i wanted to cancel i said it was becasue of Scott Booths biased commentry durring certain football matches, the person on the line wasnt suprised and said they had a few people cancelling due to his commentry and his position is actually under review :j :j :j

After reading this I got my OH to ring up saying he wanted to cancel.... Took some persuation to assure him he wouldn't 'actually' cancel, but just threaten to get the discount!!!

Anyway he was sweating a little bit because the guy at the end of the phone was saying how much it would cost to cancel and resubscribe at a later date (or something to that effect) anyway he said no thanks I'd still like to cancel..... at the last minute he offered £7.50 for 6 months!!! Needless to say my OH snapped this up!!

So just wanted to reassure people to hold on in there... the offer will be coming!!

I don't know if this has appeared elsewhere (at work and don't really have time to trawl through posts), but I wanted to point out that I was informed after getting the £7.50p/m for 6 months, that with this price, the notice period is 60 days, not 30.

Just something to bear in mind...

Cheers op 6 months for £5, when asked why i wanted to cancel told them there was nothing on only Golf, Cricket and repeats. Told me they had some exciting Cricket coming up, i said surely you jest using exciting and Cricket in the same sentence. Offered me the £7.50 i said you would need to do better than that for me to keep something im not watching :beer:

I received a newsletter from Setanta a couple of days ago and way at the bottom I noticed the price had increased by £3.00 to 12.99 per month. I phoned to cancel as I wasn't willing to pay and more and was soon offered the £7.50 deal for 6 months. I was chuffed at the reduction as I hadn't expected it and thought...........................I must post it on MSE to let others know. Then I found this thread............................................... I really must spend more time using the search button!!!!!!

This site is certainly an education in money saving.

Just phoned and the lady i spoke to was very persistent asking what i watched etc,etc. I stuck to my guns and insisted that i was going to cancel and bingo she came up with the £7.50 promotion for 6 months!! Happy days!! Will ring back again in December when its up for renewal again. Many thanks. I might try SKY next.

Tried the 6 months at £5 but no luck. Got 6 months at £7.50 though!

Profit??? They make huge losses. I give them about a year before they have to either sell off their rights or go under!
