Great Halloween Costume Hunt

Following on from the idea of the frozen hand in the punchbowl, we did an ice bowl for halloween to put grapes in. Just find 2 bowls of same shape but different size, pour a little water into big one and freeze so small bowl has a solid surface to sit on. then use tape to stick small bowl equally in middle and fill surrounding cavity with more water. Fill water with plastic spiders, skeletons etc (dirt cheap from Asda) and freeze. Remove bowls by running outside under warm water. You now have a fantastic 'ice sculpture' with creepy crawlies peering out of it. Our plastic skeletons looked like they were drowning - just the odd hand reaching up from the ice. just remember to sit it on a plate at the party as it will melt.
(Also makes the grapes taste fantastic when served so chilled)0 -

Look pretty good, dfarry, but no Aldi within 50 miles of me. Guess it is back to the charity shop to try and buy £1 black skirt. Open one seam, add ribbons to tie, and you have a cape you can do anything to - adult or child.0

Just signed up as adult helper with a youth group for age 9-11 so guess I too will have to dress up this year to help at party. Any mega-cheap ideas (simple ones please - I am no seamstress) for a rather cuddly mum....0

just got a cat outfit from sainsburys for £5. It was size 1-3 and is generous on my 18 month old so should last 3 halloweens if i'm lucky. it is like a pullover with a velcro tail and hood with ears/face0
