See how things go today - if he turns up, then i suggest writing to them with this offer. I'm sure there was a letter for this somewhere - probably from herbie. Failing that google nationaldebtline letters and they should be the first link, then at the bottom of that page.

  • I had a bailiff arrive at my door last week, i was not in and was left a letter with a libility order from council tax at a preivious address.
I did not even know i had got this. Anyway to cut a lonf story short i rang rossendales and said i would pay £43.00 a week till it would be paid (12 weeks)

The lady on the other end said yep that is ok and i said i would make first payment this friday, However she said for me to hold and then the bailiff came on the phone and said before they would agree he needs to come to me and do paper work which i replied no i would not let him in. He then raised his voice and was very rude and said well you have a nice car out the front i will come and have that. Is this possible to do that as like i have said i have offered to make a payment plan. He said i have to sign an agreement well i said why cant they post one for me to sign, i do not want him in my house and i know that once i allow him in he can gain entry at anytime.

He is coming on wednesday and i am very worried about my car.

    Any advice will be appreciated.
rossendales areawful he wants to come and see you so he can charge you a second visit fee which is another £11 + per debt that is why he wants to come even if you pretend your not in and move your car out of the way you will still be charged the second visit fee then they will want to come again and again until they do see you charging a fee everytime they are notorious for it.
the others will know better about legal wise where you stand but just thought i would put this in to warn you what they are like

Something i learned from Herbie - they are only allowed to charge you 2 visit fees. They can come as many times as they like but they cannot charge more than that (or at least shouldn't).

Write offerring a repayment plan and await their response. I'd get things moving especially if it seems like they're a**ing about.

  • Right latest is the bailiff came round yesterday but did not knock on the door he just took my car details down. I received a letter today from them saying my car is down. I called them and informed them that 1, the car was not mine 2, the car has a higher value than the debt 3, i was self employed.

Well she then asked what i can afford a week and i said i can only afford 20 pound now which she has accepted. I also told her that i do not want to see that bailiff on my property again as he was rude arrogant and wasted my time yesterday.

So we shall see what happens.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
