Counter staff in banks are now salesmen???

Banks now have 3 main objectives;
1.SALES
2.SALES
3.SALES
When they are not chasing their main objectives they will be actively pursuing their sales policy. :rotfl:0 -

Thats true - except building societies are different (those that are still b/s's, not turned into banks, e.g - abbey, a&l etc). I work for one and we dont do sales, we do help! We notice the things that can keep your £'s in your pocket, and out of the shareholders pockets...

It's not an easy life in banks and please don't blame the cashiers they are only doing their job. Any complaints about sales pressure and long queues should go to the manager. He makes the rules.
Agree with the first part, not with the second. Targets are set far higher up the tree than the manager...
Also some banks DO pay bonuses for sales....... (which by the way is a big no-no!)Waddle you do eh?0 -
I think that being introduced to products is in a way good customer service though. A lot of people might not be aware that they could get a loan with a reputable institution such as a bank and hence may turn to doorstep lenders etc.
So it's good service to make people aware of the wide range of services todays banks offer (clearly doesn't apply to those on this site, but does for the general public)0 -
Well this one always works for me..Whether being telephone cold called or even at the bank counter
No I'm not a home owner
No I don't have a partner
I'm on probation
..Kind of strange they all seem to quickly loose interest I wonder why?
