Booked 7 Nights Holiday Only get 6 Nights?

Booked a holiday flying @ 00.50 on the 8th June and coming back on the 15th June @ 05.35.

We where told a few days in that we would have to be out of our apartment at 12 noon on the 14th June. As you can see we where only getting 6 nights and not 7 nights.

Saw the rep who said that all rooms are booked from 12 Noon the previous day. At first I thought it was just us, but after a while we realised it was happenning to others as well.

All the rep would say was I have had people like yourselves since the holiday season started saying the same thing. He wasn't bothered.

Has this happen to anyone else on this site? I will be complaining once I have got a letter sorted out.

Look forward to your replys,

Farquar

That doesnt make sense, IF you booked a week/7 nights then if the 8th is your first night then the 14th should be your last. the next weeks hol should start on the 15th so are they leaving the room empty on the 14th?

what does it say on your invoice?

Edit , realised now the time you flew so the 7th was indeed your first night and not the 8th.

Sorry but you dont have anything to complain about

AFAIK your holiday does indeed start with the night of the 7th/8th June - this is fairly common practice - or at least it used to be. It always pays to check the flight timings when you book - flights with a 'better' outbound time - ie: during the day or earlier evening on the 7th may have carried an additional supplement.

I could be talking rubbish as it is some time since I took a holiday that included one of these 'night' flights - I'm sure someone else will be able to offer further advice.

Out of interest - where are you flying to? I have flown to the Balearics and Canaries utilising flights such as these - I arrived in the early hours of the morning and my room was ready for me to collapse into on arrival.

Well I would say that 00:50 is at night, so it is indeed a 7 night holiday but 1 night is on a plane.

When will you get to your destination.
If you are checking in well before noon then you will be using the room for the night of 7th
    i.e. noon 7th June -> noon 8th June.

At the moment we don't know how much of this you will be using but it looks like 7 nights to me.

Are they allowing you into the room upon arrival in the early hours?, if so then your room will have been reserved as from noon on the 7th, hence you would check out at noon on the 14th.

I think this is an important point.
If you get there at 4 or 5 and can't use your room until noon then I think you'd be really annoyed.

The timing is unfortunate but that's the way it goes with flights sometimes.

Presumably you've had all this information for a while on the itinerary?

Hi, arrived at apartments @ 06.30am on the 8th June. So between then and 14th June is only 6 nights even with getting kicked out at 12 noon.

Yes the apartment was empty from leaving.

As for checking flight times don't worry once bitten twice shy. Still think its a scam thou.

  • Hi Lisyloo,

It was a late booking. Was not Informed by travel company what so ever.

    Sorry but it is not.
Normal check in time is noon.
So if you got to use your appartment from 6:30 until Noon then that counts as one night (even though it's not a full 24 hours).
I expect you would have been fed up if they told you to sit around at 6:30 til noon, hence they booked you a room.

Ok, so maybe you didn't get ages to check, but surely you knew what you were buying before you bought it?
If you didn't then I'm sorry but you did not do adequte checking that you were happy with it.

I still think if you'd turned up dog tired at 6:30 and had to wait in reception for 5.5 hours then you'd be really angry (and probably justifiably so).

Not everyone can fly in prime slots and if you book last minute or get cheap deals then you are very unliekly to get prime spots which business people are paying a fortune for.

Last year, myself and Mrs Baker went to Zante for our friends' wedding and the flight times were very similar to yours. We arrived at a similarly early hour and because we had paid for that first 'night', we were able to go straight to our apartment. On the last day, we were able to keep our room on right up to our departure time for a small charge - something like 30 Euro.

It is quite clearly not a scam, as has already been explained by several posters
