Sony Ericsson w910i
Got a new 18 month contract with Orange Dec 08 (through phones4u). Got a Sony Ericsson w910i.
By Jan I was already having problems. It was turning itself off, stuff like that, but I just put up with it. I rely on my phone and couldn't not have it for a week or so when it was sent in for repair.
Lost the phone on a drunken night out, paid for a replacement w910i in April.
This phone developed the same problems, but again I just put up with it.
A couple of weeks ago the phone turned itself off but would not turn on again.
Orange sent me a relplacement phone. I was really lucky as apparently its only a 6 month warrenty with Orange and a 2 year one with Sony Ericsson. This warrenty ran out on the Sunday and my phone broke on the Thursday before.
So, I'm not onto my 3rd phone, and this morning I could not ring or text anyone, and nobody can ring or text me either. Turned the phone off and back on again and it started working.
It's now started with the same problem, but I've turned it on and off numerous times and it's just saying 'No network coverage' when I try to send a text eventhough I have a full signal.
My sisters on Orange and her phones fine so I don't think it's the network. I can't even ring Orange to check (but have sent them an email)
I've looked around at reviews of the phone and loads of people are having problems with the phones.
My point is that now my warrenty is with Ericsson they can charge for repairs to be made. I don't believe I should have to pay for repairs that I have not caused. There is obviously something wrong with the model.
I've still got pretty much a year left on my contract and I can't keep having to send the phone in for repair, I need my phone!
I'm just wondering whether they should offer me a different model after having so many problems? I'm now onto my third phone (admittedly only one of them has had to be replaced because of a fault but they've all had problems)
I'm not very clever with this stuff so thought somebody who's more in the know might be able to help.
Sorry for the long post

Thanks!
I've tried this but I'm stuck.
I'm plugging my phone in whilst pressing C. The phone lights up and goes into mass storage mode. All the folders (i.e. my pics videos etc) come up on my laptop but then that's it. I don't know what I'm supposed to do from there0 -

If you can I'd cancel your order.
My boyfriend and sister have also got these phones and they've had probs too. Infact, my boyf had problems within a week of getting his phone.
I'll never get a SE phone again!0 -
Thanks!

plug the cable into the computer then press start on the se update program. hold 'c' then plug the cable into the phone (whiles still holding 'c') and it should start updating it (after it has installed the flash drivers automatically).
if it doesn't then make sure your battery is fully charged. if it still refuses to work, disconnect the phone and remove and reinsert the battery but reconnect it to SEUS holding 2&5 instead of 'c'I'll never get a SE phone again!
i think this issue is to do with oranges firmware with thier crappy branding as the generic SE f/w doesnt have this problem. also, this phone (along with the k850 and v640 etc) runs on a new platform and was 1 of the first models to use the new platform. i have a k800 and k810 which are based on an older platform so are pretty reliable compared to newer SE phones with the rather buggy db3150 platform/firmware0 -
Thanks for all that gaming_guy, you do live up to your sig!
I rang Orange off my Dads phone and got the problem sorted. It was something pretty simple, just a setting needed changing (I've not touched any of the settings since getting the phone so don't know why it wasn't right).
To be fair, I do know many people with older Ericsson's and they've been pretty reliable.
The reviews of the w910i are terrible though, and it seems everybody is have similar problems.
Thanks again for your help, will add this to my favourites for the next time it goes wrong0
