I am on a water meter but have always turned the tap off when used to be unmetered as well, as for me it is about not wasting water more than about saving money - but it is that too..!
Those on water meters often are on them as they are concious of their usage and/or use less water than they would be charged for unmetered, so any slant in favour of those on meters turning taps may be as much/more indicative of their attitude to waste as/than their attitude to saving money...0 -
i have a stupid question ( i turn the tap off) however that water that does go down the plug doesnt it go back to the water board for disinfection they then put in one of those reseviours (spelt wrong) then clean again and pump back to us so if the water is going round and around surely we cannot be wasting it (unless its a heat wave then they all dry up)
or is it the fact they dont have enough reservoirs for the amount of population so not enough places to store the water
(sorry if this sounds stupid and i am careful on water usage)
i have a headache trying to think about it lol0 -
Always turn the tap off while brushing - Blue Peter told me to when I was a kid
For me it was 'Barney' (big purple dinosaur) - when my eldest was a baby (he's 15 now), they had a song about this-
'when I'm brushing my teeth and having so much fun,
I never let the water run, no, I never let the water run'
I watched that bl**dy programme so often, even now I can never get that out of my head when I am brushing my teeth!!!
So for me it was
No water meter, but always turn off the tap.
i have to watch that now! he is my daughters favourite at the mo
and teddyco you are funny and have given me a laugh tonight0 -
n_hatton's right. What's the tap doing on in the first place? My dentist is very clear that brushing should be done with a dry brush (especially with electric toothbrushes)....the tap only gets used to rinse the brush at the end.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0

That's what we tell patients as well. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
