Court Date, 3 July - Eeeek! Edit - Help with SoA pleeeeease.....

Well, I have a date now. :eek::D

I started my journey on this thread.

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=931599

I was scared, a lost soul, didn't know where to turn at the beginning of that thread, which was only about 5 weeks ago, but here I am, forms filled in, Court date booked and ready. Well, sort of ready. :rolleyes::D

We have almost all of the BR fee, OH gets paid end of June, so will give us time to top it up and to clear out my bank account before 3 July. Haven't told my sis yet but I am biting the bullet and telling her sometime this week, I know she will be disappointed as she is so good with money, but I also know she will be glad that we are doing something about it and shall never get into that situation again. I need to tell her, as she is getting worried about my panic attacks and doesn't really understand why I am getting them, so I don't want her to keep worrying, I want her to know what's been going on the past month with us, and that I am doing something about it, as my health is very important to me, and me and OH want contentment and peace of mind. Its the most important thing to us. :)

Thanks to everyone on here who pointed me in the right direction, gave me advice and support and helped clear my head a bit, which is not easy at the moment, I can tell you! I can't wait now til 3 July, just think by lunch-time on that date, I will be debt free....just can't get my head round that bit, we are already learning to live without credit and pay everything by cash, we hardly have any money at the mo, but its a good feeling all the same. We know there will be some debt left in OH's name, but we know we will be able to clear them, once my debts have gone, and it was very important to us that one of us wasn't made BR. OH works not far from the Courts so he will be meeting me there, so I don't have to go in on my own.

I shall keep this thread going with reminders for myself for things I need to do and shall, of course, let you all know how actual day itself goes. xx

    You've taken control of your life and debts and its a good feeling to be in control again.

    Best of luck for the 3rd July.
    The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(

    Well done summer, I bet July 3rd can't come soon enough!

  • All the best Summer, do tell your sister - blood is thicker than debts. My sister doesn't approve of my debts, but she has stuck by me like glue and has been so interested in all the nitty gritty that I am never short of someone to tell it all too.

    I too had a major panic attack, muscles shaking all over, and incredibly it wasn't the bankruptcy , which I thought I was handling well, but a neighbour having a go , which would not normally have bothered me. Must have been the last straw. Reluctantly went to doctor as my family were concerned and even more reluctantly agreed to take Citalopram, which are actually helpful, though takes a couple of weeks to kick in.

    So can especially relate to you on the sister and panic attack front and am sure your sister will be relieved when you tell her.

    All the very best for the 3rd, it'll be fine.

    Thanks guys. xx I haven't taken the Citalopram yet...I know! :o But I really wanted to try and get through this 'naturally', if you know what I mean, and I am doing ok at the mo, but I have it there if I need it. Why is it that my sister is so great with money, always had savings, never uses a CC, pays into pensions etc...and I am the complete opposite! :eek: I want to aspire to be like her now, better late than never. :rotfl: I know it stems from childhood, my dad was an a&se, always kept my mum short of money, she hardly had enough to feed us and keep over a roof over our heads at times, and I always remember arguments about money. So sis wanted to never be in that situation, and I just wanted to spend, whether I had the money saved up or not, cos it made me feel better! I am taking full responsibility, no-one put a gun to my head, but its funny how childhood experiences affect you in certain ways.

    I am slowly getting used to not panicking at the sight of letters from my creditors asking me why there was no payment for this month.....I just put them away quickly. :o:D And I have swapped over all the DDs that we are continuing to pay, over to OH's bank account, god that was a nightmare, not going to be doing that again in a hurry. Why is it never straightforward just to change simple bank account details!

    I think I am going to be one of those anal...am I allowed to say anal..:rotfl:..budgeting, saving people, when all this over. I am a girl of extremes. :D

    Just rang sis, asked her to come round after work, she then got worried and asked if I was ok and I started crying! What am I like? :o I think its good though, I need to tell her and I will feel better. Poor sis, she will be worrying til 5pm now! And I will be bricking myself, always been a little scared of older sis, :o but in a good way, she's got a good head on her shoulders, always speaks her mind, doesn't take any crap and is great in a crisis. And now mum isn't around, she is the first one for me to turn to.
