Oooh, sounds like you've got a plan going on!!

Sorry to hear about the DD - ours is similar at the moment, bad head cold means she's up and down like a yo-yo. It's exhausting.

Never mind about overpayments - they're EXTRA, dn;t forget. It's nice to do them, but worst comes to worse you're repaying the minimums.

Holiday? What is this 'holiday' of which you speak? We've got one planned for 2010, a long way away, but will be paid for completely beforehand!

Hooray it's Saturday - can forget anything work related for 48 hours yippeeee.

My little girl had her third bad night in a row, she is poorly bless her so not her fault but I am so used to a child that sleeps 12 hours solid it's a bit of a shock to the system when she doesn't. Have had more than 2-3 hours sleep for the last 3 days and I am now feeling a little bit on the shattered side. She seems ok this morning so fingers crossed whatever it is will soon be gone.

Following on from a challenge Hypno set herself I have decided to try and get a weeks shopping all food, toiletries and household products for £30 so this morning I want to mooch around on the net for some recipe ideas and then I'll make my shopping list.

My problem is me and hubby usually eat different meals. I am an ex vegetarian who loves veg, I now eat chicken and fish so meals plans are fairly easy for me.

Hubby is a meat eater who hates veg. He loves red meat and doesn't like fish  . So the only thing we really "match" on is chicken. I would happily live on chicken but don't think its fair to cut red meat out of hubbies diet because I chose to.

So I need to find lots of meals we can share as this will obviously keep the cost down.

Me and OH are like this - he simply will not eat veg, and I'm not a huge meat fan. I also refuse to do 2 separate meals, so what we do is to make the meal as normal, I simply have less meat, he has more meat and tends to get the lion share of carrots and spuds. If it's a red meat day, you could just have veg, maybe make up a side order of cheese sauce etc, that way you're not making extra, just adjusting portion sizes of stuff. Besides, there's loads of meat free alternatives nowadays and my OH tends not to notice his 'sausages' have never seen a pig unless I point it out.

Aww poor Baby Doodle, have you thought about Vicking her, or a warm bath before bed, try and loosen up the chesty stuff? I'm with you on the whole 'you slept, why won't you do it now?' thing.

Those numbers in your sig are looking pretty sweet - well done you!!!

Ok are you married to my OH as he only eats pots and carrots too lol

I am liking the idea of doing the same meal but me having a "vegetarian" meal if he is having red meat.

I need to learn to be a bit more creative with veg too as I either tend to steam them or just roast them and thats it. I'm sure there are lots more exciting things I could do with them lol.

Hi Doodle! Embarrassingly, I never realised you had a diary - I'm terrible for not looking past the first page... :o

Anyway! Poor little doodle :grouphug: I hope she really is better today. You sound like you're doing well - I have a full time job that isn't full time hours, IYKWIM, I have no idea how I'd cope with debtbusting if not... just the basics, I'm sure. But the basics *do* cover the debt, after all!

Seems like the two most important things you can do is not spend on M&S sarnies, and not spend on the car park - between them, thats easily a tenner a day. That surely adds up!

It also sounds like you've got quidco well sewn up, good for you. I'm off quite soon, but just wanted to say hi. Hi! :hello: :hello: :hello:

Helloooo fellow "stick to the bloody budget, woman" challenger.....!

You say you are doing nothing MSE wise until September, but you are - you will be keeping a closer eye on things than you would have done previously.....you may not be paying off masses, but neither will you be recklessly spending masses.

Think about what you would have done before, and how things have changed this year.....then give yourself a pat on the back.

Spuds and carrots seem to be a bloke thing, don't they? I have to resort to sneaking them into stuff, but he still picks them out. Even onions. The nights he go out, we have a pure veggie meal, as DD is not a meat fan, at least not at home - nursery she's a bottomless pit.

Have you thought about picking up a few vegetarian cook books from the library? Might give you some ideas. I find a nice cheese sauce poured over some veggies, topped with breadcrumbs and baked a nice simple way of doing it, or simply replacing the meat in stuff like stews with chickpeas. You could try it as a side for OH, and the main event for you.

I told OH I wasn't going to muck about with different meals, so even when I'm on the South Beach Diet (which I'm about to embark on again, aftr DD came home after nursery and told me they had jelly for tea, and isn't my tummy a bit like a jelly? along with hand movements. I put down the choc bar rather quickly) I just do the same meal, but adjust the 'internal portions' to suit. I'll leave stuff off one, and put more of something else on another. He's fine with this, and will occassionally try new stuff if threatened with castration.
