  • Hi Chev,

So sorry to read you're feeling so down :grouphug:

I know how it feels to upsticks and move to somewhere completely different to what you knew before (albiet not as far flung as you have - I've not had to contend with a change of continent & country as well) only for things to not go as planned or turn out as you'd imagined. :o

It's a hard one to swallow, and in some ways harder to admit when it's not working out so well.

The reality is; you either have to try to stem the flow with a bandage, knowing it may not hold ... or ... you follow a more drastic or controversial course of treatment. It's a hard choice either way, after which you then have to accept the outcome. :(

A person can only do their best, with what they've got and what they know, at any given time .... and you're already doing that hun. Not sure what else to say, except that there are people here to give you support, even if it's only virtual. I know it's not the same, but it can help you to not feel quite so alone with it all :A

G'Angel is right you know we will be here to give you support and cheer you on.
  • Sorry to hear you are feeling blue, I didn't want to read and run as I have been feeling exactly the same over the weekend. my feelings are of despair at how stupid I have been to get into this situation. I have had a few deaths of close relatives in recent months and it has made me more aware of how precious and short life is and because of my stupidity and greed I am not enjoying life anywhere near as much as I would be if we had no debts. Instead I spend my days scrimping, buying clothes from charity shops and car boots or George and even that is a rare occasion.

I think you are doing really well, it must be really hard trying to job hunt whilst trying to settle into a new culture and way of life together with making new friends. I have lived in my village now for 6.5 years and I can honestly say I still don't have many "good" friends (if any) but feel like I have made a big break through in the past 12 months - it's all about battling through the home sickness and plodding on :o

One conclusion I have come to is that I HAVE to exercise in the morning, otherwise something else always comes up , or i am too tired, or la la la. You know how it is, so that will help with my weight if i can do something each day. Itsa thanks for the support it is important to me! It will come right in the end I suppose

  • I have to say I need to do some exercise every day as I really think it makes a difference to my mental health and mood.

I am currently spending far too much time on my fitness pal.com - it becomes strangely addictive :o

I'm definitely finding that being back in the gym is helping me enormously in terms of general "wellbeing". unfortunately the gym I use doesn't open early enough for me to do a pre-work session, but if it did then I would be right there!

Oh Chev, you poor thing! I hadn't read the above long post from you when I poppsed on here the other day ... you really are going through it. Some options, none of which you like very much :(

You know what I wonder about - maybe for you, maybe for me ... websites.... I wonder what there is in NZ thats high value enough to sell on the web and send abroad (as well as your domestic market, but that sounds quite small simply because of population size. Still do-able tho).

Local stone in jewellery? Lord of the Rings related stuff? I honestly don't know, and obviously there's work involved, but there's no *selling* involved. It doesn't sound like an area you've thought of, so you may hate the idea on sight ... I just wondered...

I could easily self hibernate too. And make excuses for going out of my comfort zone. That is why I said yes to managing my boys touch team this season. It REALLY is a nothing job, yet I feel very uncomfortable doing it.Sigh. And then when the surf life saving junior committee had no one to do the Secretary's role, I put my hand up. I MUST be mad!! So I am trying but it is really hard to keep pushing.

I just possted this on KC's thread but wanted it on here as well!

KC i haven't really thought about local products. The thing is that alot of local stuff is already really well marketed! It is one this kiwi's are very good at, but fair point to look...

You're right, chev, it *is* well marketed - but with a website, you *do* have the whole world as your market :):):)

Talk about comfort zones ... I wish I could retire now, I really do, but literally my pension would give me £40 a week - not on, really! My mum retired at my age with an index-linked pension .... I can dream. I was supposed to win the million pound premium bond this month :D
