Okay, I've read all of your comments and decided to have a look at something different...... how about the Honda Jazz?

I test drove it today in the automatic and it seems like a nice little car. The boot space was also bigger than the Toyota Yaris. Just not too sure about the shape. Am I being too picky?

Jazz is a good option, just not a "Dot Cotton" pink one (trade slang)

Another one to consider would be a Mitsubishi Colt, not sure on the auto side of things but a good use of interior space.

BTW - in the Jazz, the rfront passengers are sitting on the fuel tank if I remember - which is how the rear has greater space.
Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

There are three types of people in the world, those who can add up and those who can't.

Has anyone got any other ideas then? I'm totally confused now! I need something with a reasonable boot, cheap to run, reliable..... I thought the Renault Scenic was, but if it isn't then i'm not interested.

It is, or at least will be if you go for something like an 05 onwards one. Don't take everyones word as gospel on here, most of us are predjusticed in some way,;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

    Hi,
i have a renault scenic, and wish i hadn't. After a while everything sounds loose, the doors rattle, if it has a sunroof watch out, it costs £285 just for the running gear. petrol consumption is not great on my auto, gearbox starts getting probs after 50 thousand miles co reading is really high, so if you are going green, then stay away.
good luck in your search. Go on autotrader and do a search of models, then read the road test results.
    Regards,

Petrol versions are thirsty, daughters 2ltre averages about 27 to 33mpg, probably not too bad for a bulky car, but diesel versions are much better in my view;)

Hit the nail on the head there, recomendations can narrow the field a little but most important to buy what feels right for you, good luck.:money:
