Renault Scenic or Toyota Yaris?

I am looking for a newish car and I think it is between these two. I will be needing an automatic/mmt gear box and 5 doors too. If anyone has anything good or bad to say, I would really appreciate your opinions.
Thanks in advance.

The Yaris Verso is ugly but practical, a fair bit narrower than the Renault. If it was me chosing I would want the Yaris for inner city and Scenic for longer open journeys.

What budget are you looking at?

You are looking at two totally different vehicles. the Scenic is a mini MPV and the Yaris is a super-mini. Yaris is likely to be much more reliable than the Scenic.

yaris- the mmt version is cheap to buy from new but be warned.
unless you intend to sell it before the warantee is up get a full automatic even though it costs more as the mmt is unreliable (search it on the toyota owners forum).

My budget is about 8K. It's for me and my baby. I'm looking for something reliable, economic to run and insure... I think that's it.

You won't need a big car then if it's just for you and your baby.

The toyota yaris has a rediculously small boot, so imo no good for a baby, i couldnt even fit a stroller in it when i had it for a hire car.

Has anyone got any other ideas then? I'm totally confused now! I need something with a reasonable boot, cheap to run, reliable..... I thought the Renault Scenic was, but if it isn't then i'm not interested.
