This blog article might help if it's a Grohe cistern. (You have to read to the end to find out what to do).

It may well be the syphon seal washer, similar to this.

    I would contact your landlord.

Damn valve-based flushes. It's a travesty. If I moved into somewhere with one of those installed I'd be straight down to B&Q to buy a proper syphon.
  • thanks! I have the same problem and wondered what was causing it!

    There several types.

Get a small slotted screwdriver and flick out the center push, and underneth you will see a screw. but some unscrew anti clockwise without taking the center out, and some have a backnut.

Take a pic and post it if you can? for more help.

Long time overdue but i've finally managed to get the top off the cistern. After it trickling for months it finally stopped flushing!!! The cistern was completely empty of water. I've filled it and it flushes but then carries on trickling. No idea what i should be doing now. any help?

I've attached (hopefully) an image of what it looks like inside although i'm not sure how much help that will be.Photo-0252.jpg
