Hi, Im coming to the end of my Vodafone contract and am looking for a better deal and have seen the offers companies like Dial-a-phone and Carphone have online i.e. free ipods, Nintendo Wii's, PS3's etc and wondered if they are as good as they sound?!

Do you actually get these items sent to you as a free gift or is there some catch?
Would be grateful if anyone could shed any light! :j

I used dial a phone on my last new phone and picked up a Samsung 19" LCD with my LG Viewty. It arrived about 3/4 weeks later.

Previously I ordered a phone from buymobilephones.net and picked up an xbox 360, which I later sold on ebay, again it turned up about 4 weeks later.

I prefer these options over the cashback deals as not messing around sending off bills etc

They say that the gifts are free but all the deals with "free" gifts seem to be more expensive than the ones without. When my girlfriend go a new contract she got one with a free xbox360 from dialaphone and it came no problem but the contract she was getting meant that the deal with the "free" gift was only £40 or so more than the same deal without a gift.
So by all means get a deal with a free gift but dont get a more expensive deal just to get a free gift and make sure you check the handset price of the deal because that is normally much more when there is a free gift included

great - thanks for your help. :T

Also, a stupid question perhaps, but are the free gifts just for online purchases or are they available in the stores too?

    thanks again

  • It's been 7 weeks and I've not recieved my PS3 from Carphone warehouse and from speaking to customer services it sounds like one big con.

They've just told me the offer for them is no longer on, and that customers are recieving them in about 7 weeks after the initial order. They can't tell you when you're going to get it, that they have none in stock and that you're on a priotiy list. They then say that the offer is subject to avaiability which is the big thing for me. Does that mean that if its no longer avilable tehn tough you get nothing?

Now we did get our Wii before Christmas from them on a seconds mobile contract that we have between us and taht took longer than the 28 days plus 7day delivery, but there was a shortage of them nationally.

How can they get away with making the offer when they don't have the stock?

If I don't recieve it can I tell orange to get stuffed for the remaining contract becuase I never recieved the free gift? As far as I'm concerned yes as I got it through Carelessphone Warehouse.

    My advice don't bother.

Hi I recently took out an 18 month contract with T-mobile via Dial-a-Phone. I'm happy with the samsung phone, and I also received an Ipod G3 4gb which is perfect for the gym. Overall I was very impressed, I also went through topcashback and will hopefully receive a cheque for £60.00 any day now!
