The lead character in ABC's Less Than Perfect is also called Claude but in her case it's short for Claudia.
Re the tricks for short messages, I can see how the ones with characters printed in white were done, and the one with an empty picture, but I still can't work out how Jay Jay's first one was done http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=947158&postcount=9
