Permenantly, the only way is to deny living there and demand the data removed, but they need the ok from the company that recorded the link first.

thanks for reply, is there a standard template letter at this site i can send to the company to state that it was a mailbox and i was not living in the mail box!

then the company may write to experian to remove it

    thanks

You could try phoneing them first, but remember to deny even useing the address full stop, or it will remain.

You should not have any data on your credit file that is more than 6 years old. This mean that if you left the address 1 day over 6 years ago, it should have already "fallen off" of the database and you will need to ask them to take it off.

If you have lived at the address for even 1 day in the last 6 years it does not matter how long it has been since you first started living there, the length of time you lived there should be recorded accurately.

But again all data that is older than 6 years (other than length of time at address) and adverse or positive over 6 years must be deleted such as account records, court judgements etc (this is 6 years after the date it was last updated).

You just need to ask them to do it, as soon as you do they will manually take it off.

I would also check Equifax and Callcredit too.

    Hope this helps.

    Not accurate im afraid.

I hae over 100 linked addresses, many are back to 1999 so I emailed Experian

    Dear Experian.
There are some 35 ish linked addresses on my credit file that are all well
    over 8 years old.
I have it on good information from one of your colleagues that your policy
is to keep address links for a period of 8 years, I quote "*We retain
address links on your for eight years from the date of information*"
Please remove any address links on my file that are over 8 years old, and
please confirm either in writing or via email when this will be completed.

    Regards

    The Analyst

    To which they replied
    Dear Mr Analyst

Thank you for your query received on 7 June 2008.

I understand your concerns and would explain that Experian keeps linked address information on your report indefinitely.

    Yours sincerely

Equifax and Callcredit do not display linked address information on your credit report and I don't think it effect's your score anyway.

The addresses might remain there (although I am still pretty sure 1 day after 6 years of you having left the address they should come off of the record), but any adverse or positive data 1 day over 6 years recorded at any address (linked or current) must come off. that is defaults, ccjs, decrees, good account conduct, etc (only exception is specially exteneded bankrupty). So having an address over 6 years does not matter as there will be nothing recorded on it over 6 years from one day after the data was last updated, i.e default filed 15/06/2002 will drop of tomorrow, as they are not allowed to hold anything over 6 years old (unless it is the length of time at a previous address or electrol roll data).

I would suggest you go back to Experian and tell them their own job.

this info is wrong the ccj, defaults fall off your file 6 years from the date issued so if it was paid the day before the 6 years it will still drop off not remain for a further 6!!
