Hi all,
Me and my fiancee are buying our first home and getting sky+ broadband package for it. We are hopefully completing in the next month (VERY hopefully!)
My question is when can we tell Sky to come and install the dish etc. (as soon as we know the completion date or wait til we are in?), how soon will they be able to do it and will they be able to set up the internet straight away? (Sorry that is obviously more than 1 question!)
I have a feeling the internet will not be straight away - if that is right how long does it take to get it all up and running?
Thanks in advance!

Oh, and is Sky Broadband fast - we will have the medium 8MB one, obviosuly it depends on where you are - just in case we will be in Braintree Essex!0

Best to wait until you are in the property as delays do happen. Then you can arrange for your BT line to be installed and order from Sky. Have you checked your local exchange for Sky LLU equipment here? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Hmmm. What is the LLU as it says no for Sky. It does say yes for AOL, C&W, Orange and TalkTalk.
Is that bad for me?
I had previously checked the postcode on the Sky website and it said it was OK (but then they would say that I guess!)
EDIT: Just checked and there is an LLU for Sky in Witham, which is less than 10 miles away0 -
Ckeck on the Sky website here and it'll tell you if you can get their LLU package or if you have to use their Connect service, which uses your BT line.Dave. :wave:0

Until you know which exchange you will be connected to (10 miles is quite far for a telephone line), you won't know if you can get proper Sky LLU or Sky on BT. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Checked it out! I don't know the phone number, guess I should check what it is and if there is definitely a BT line already, so I used the postcode and it said:
Sky Broadband Connect is available.
Based on the postcode you have entered, there is a good indication# that Sky Broadband Connect, is available in your area.
Fast download speeds of up to 8Mb* and a massive monthly usage allowance of 40GB can be yours now with Sky Broadband Connect. Please note: broadband speeds vary with location and line quality. In order to join Sky Broadband you will need an active BT compatible phone line. Sky Broadband is exclusively available to Sky TV customers.
That sounds OK to me.... but then again, Sky would want me to think it's OK... or am I being too cautious?0 -
Wait till you have moved in and got a telephone line working. Promises can vanish into thin air very quickly and it's funny how nobody can remember who told you what ! One step at a time.0

Nor as fast as Sky Max for less money! Is there any advantage going for Sky unless you can get Sky LLU? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

What would be the difference between CONNECT and LLU?
Would it cost me more if I can't get LLU, would the internet be slower?0 -

Connect is broadband supplied by Sky when you are not on a Sky LLU exchange. Compare the Sky packages here. If you can only get Sky connect, what is the advantage going with Sky when there are hundreds of ISP's to choose from? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
