Thanks for all your replies......keep them coming....

    As for the 'documentation'....

Each letter that he sent to the managment committee was not 'signed', just printed on A4 paper, along with the 'complaint'.
These are kept along with all other paperwork regarding anything to do with the building.... So they do have kind-of written proof...

Other compalints have basically just been ignored by all who live here...
In management meetings his 'objections' have just been skimmed over.
Nothing was ever recorded in the 'minutes'... though it was mentioned, and spoken about.... but not at length....

In meetings he's been told not to 'be daft', and some of our more blunt residents have said.....
'Stop talking out of your bottom !!'

Not sure if it was a clever deliberate move on his part not to sign letters

No one else has complained about anything, just those two sorry *******s.

He took it upon himself to ring Environmental Health... which of course got him nowhere...

My 'adopted neighbour grandad', decided not to feed his beloved birds as it was causing him too much stress. Idiot Brain (our pet name for him) was emptying out the birds nuts as fast as they could be filled!!!

If I think of any more of his 'antics', I'll fill you all in....

Some of them you really have to laugh about....

On a serious note though, I am a little scared of him...

Keep your funny comments coming....I could do with cheering up.

I think you and the other neighbours need to get together and put in a serious complaint against these nuisance people. Obviously they have nothing better to do and as long as they do not actually encroach on others property or physically make life difficult for others, they are not very bad, but you cannot bank on it just continuing like this.

However, for the purposes of the sale, you must inform the prospective buyers. I used to do conveyancing at solicitors, and it is a legal requirement otherwise you could get sued by the buyers after they have moved in. I know it's a pain, but this will be dealt with by your solicitors. Explain to them the exact situation and they will know whether this should be disclosed or not, and they will proceed with disclosure if they deem it necessary.

Sorry, but withholding this kind of situation could result in you getting a much, much bigger headache. Please therefore, tell your solicitors!

    Good luck!

Well if the complaints weren't official and he did not sign the copies etc, and there's no dispute going on, or hasn't been, then don't worry.
On the other hand if your locked in or have been locked in a dispute with the neigbhour and it involves the council as well that could be a problem
If you do get together with the other neigbhours and put a complaint in, then your making it official
    Would that be right 'Quasar'

i'd love to hear the reply from environmental health about bird poo...were they given the number for the rspb.

could you say you've had no complaints about others, had one poss about you, though not taken any further action [your unsuitability etc] if necessary get the other owners to provide written refs that you weren't undesirable etc, and forward copies of letters. say no action was taken in meetings.

ie let the new owners decide that it's a nice block, but watch out for the saddos in flat... just say they were very pro-active in keeping the block unified in colour, quiet, clean etc. spin the positives.

i would not make a complaint about the weirdos, as that would then be official.

    then run.................. :rotfl:

Interesting point, however a dispute in this case is anything that causes nuisance and that might reasonably put off somebody moving into that property. I still think only the sellers' solicitors can advise when the full circumstances are explained. It's too big a risk to take.

I have had cases where abusive neighbours were not mentioned (there was no official complaining at all, just the various exchanges of unpleasantness) and they got taken to court. You can't rely on all the other neighbours to say nothing ever happened, and the buyers would find out this was going on. Even if it is a trivial thing, today's compensation culture makes it essential that the buyer has nothing to find out after the purchase.

Any lawyers here to say otherwise, and I am happy to stand corrected.

  • I do hope you've sold your flat to people with:

    - a loud lawnmower
    - a longing to feed the birds/squirrels each day
    - a liking for gloss paint, particularly on their front door
    - a liking for windows painted in the wrong shade of white
    - a terrible dress sense
    - cars who's exhausts blow frequently

If you've not yet sold, mention to your estate agents that all potential buyers should only have the qualities listed above.

Have you considered advertising your property in a "Bikers" magazine - perhaps a Hells Angel would be more to their liking?

Just a guess but I bet they are "Freudian" psychiatrists- sound really uptight and anal!

    HELP !

We will be moving early next Spring and have sort of got some 'problem neighbours'.

I don't want to get into trouble filling in sellers forms incorrectly, but there are a few things I'd like to 'omit'....

What, exactly, does the Seller's Information Form ask?

IIRC, it asks you to diclose disputes. Generally, these are protracted disagreements whereby you claim one thing e.g. this hedge is mine and the other party disagrees e.g. No, it's mine.

It sounds as though you have recieved an isolated incident of crank mail, from a serial crank mailer.

What did you do about the letter? Did you ignore it? If so, then I would say there is no dispute. However, I would certainly ask the solicitor if you are required to warn future buyers of "eccentric" neighbours - I'm fairly sure that the answer to that one is "no".

    Good luck

    Good Comments ... Thankyou.

I'm still undecided about telling new buyers about ONE neighbour.

The rest of us here are all easy going... and quite pally.
Most of us have a kind-of open invitation to drop by..... borrow anything...
We are lucky that we are closer then most neighbours...
We flat-sit one another homes.... are keyholders... pet sit....+++

No-one has moved in or out from these flats in years... we were one of the first in a number of years.

I know that (without bragging) the flat will sell itself... It's in the right location, good schools, etc, etc, HUGE !! REALLLLLLLY HUGE (APPROX 1200SQ FT) 2 bed flat...
    good decor... Good everything....

I think our neighbour has a 'bee-up-his-bum' because before we moved in here he was friends with the previous owner (who never really lived here, and only used this flat as an occasional crash pad..).... and he was allowed to use this place as 'storage', and also he allowed him to used this place as a 'hotel', for any visiting friends of theirs !!!

We've been trying to figure out what it is about us that he does not like...
I'd like to point out that we are most definately NOT offensive to look at !!
Could it be that hubby is BALD !!!... I think not.....

He might have a 'thing' about people with no hair... you never know....

I await your 'bright spark comments' re: the bald thing !!!

Seriously though... we are not scruffy, smelly, or anything else... but somehow have managed to offend him !!

Could it be bacause they have lost their 'extention' ... and spare room/s !!!?????
