gettin videos onto 6230?

Hi, i have some videos which i want to put on my nokia 6230, i have worked out how to get them on there but the phone won't recognise the file format. It is currently windows media player file. I tried changing it open with nokia media player but it still won't recognise it.

Does anyone know what file it needs to be and how i change it?

I think it needs to be in 3gp format. Nokia multimedia converter (not sure if that's the same as Nokia media player) will convert files from avi, mov and some mpg file formats, if you have the right codecs installed. Not sure it does windows media format so you may need some other converter (search the net).

You need xilisoft 3gp convertor or mpegable X4 live, do a search and d/l them for free trials, once you done that I can help you with the settings if ya want.

all files gotta be .3gp on a 6230

stick with it I go a 1gb mmc in mine and got all the cath tate episodes and a few Peter kay and they are great to watch on your moby, I gotta SE k750i which is even better than the 6230 I had previous.

xilisoft and mpegable will convert any dvd you stick in your pc or lappy to a 3gp file! Your dvd can be a bought one though not sure about the copyright protection if it will stop you or not! But I have used a dvd recorder to copy from live bbc or sky onto a dvd+rw then stuck the dvd into my lappy, run the codec xilisoft or mpegable, to convert to a .3gp file. But I now convert to mpeg4 as the se k750 plays these and they are better quality.
I'm doing bad boys from c5 last night at this very moment on my lappy.
I can send you a .3gp with cath tate and Peter Kay if ya want, since you are such a fan, just to get ya started.

just downloaded that file nmm converter 2_0, will it not do wmv files? if not then des any1 know how to change the file or will i have to download it in a different format? Thankyou.

can someone explain in really simple english for a no-hoper like me exactly what i have to do to change the formats to put onto an mmc card on my mobile? (nokia 3230)

If you want to convert "video's" you'll have to be more specific. Ie are they vhs video dvd or mpegs or what?

As I thought!........forget nokia multimedia convertor, use mpegablex4 live. Nmmc wont do dvd's.
Put your dvd in run mpegx4 using the Nokia NEC encoding profile.

Let me know how u get on!
