Orange sim activation- is it normal
To still have no signal after 12 hours? No text messages or anything but when I check my number on the website, it says 'cannot proceed'- the nice man from the nice indian call centre (grr) assured me it HAD been activated and to wait for a text...I don't see why I should have to phone them again, I have no land line and it would cost me on Virgin. Starting to nark me, any other network (except for o2) you stick the sim in and it works!!
Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.

It can take up to 24 hours for it to go through. Have you tried turning sim off and on again.0

I think Orange have lost the plot.
Last week I received a new PAYG phone from Carphone Warehouse. It came with a pre-activated Orange SIM. Marvelous, except nowhere did it tell you what the blasted phone number was. I waited 24 hours for a welcome text but to no avail. Tried all the usual things, switching on and off and scanning for new network.
Couldn't ring my home phone as the £10 complementary credit hadn't (as still hasn't) been applied.
Finally got a text by logging onto the Orange web page and registering my name and address together with the SIM number.
What a faff.

Well it's been 24 hours now. Phoned up again, had no record of me and refused to discuss it (indian call centre again) phoned the 450 number from another phone and they said it would be done in half an hour and we'll phone you back to check. That was over an hour ago. I can't be arsed I think i'll try t-mob instead.Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough.
