  • I have just contacted DLA notifying them that I do not require supervision whilst socialising.

Sorry to hiajck the thread, but I receive DLA as well and I've noticed I've become worse.

Now, because a lot of it is personal care related and there's nothing none of the specialists can do (they said this to me last year) I don't see anyone to see if they can help me. This means there's no evidence to say that I am getting worse. (well, they have stuff from the physio, but that's about it) If I wrote to the DWP and said I was having problems doing certain tasks, who would they contact about this?

if you put down your GP as the only medical contact then thats who they`d contact, always worth discussing your care/mobility needs with him in advnace of the claim,Personally i would also be inclined to add a note to the claim explaining why you dont see anybody else, you can never give too much information.

I suggest you contact your local council and ask for an assesment to be done via Social services. You may have to be referred via your GP but you will receive more help this way. An Occupational Therapist (OT) will come out and assess you and will see what care you needs you may have.

You may qualify for help and dependant on income and benefits you receive you may be offered help through the council or via Direct Payments.

Thank you. I think I had somone like that come around to see me last year (when I was slightly better) and had a chat with my parents. My parents explained one of the problems I was having (it was something about reading numbers on the microwave) and they said there was nothing they could do.
