Sarah, i have followed your predicament since it started a while back. Whereas i do sympathise with you, i cant see what other option you have but to persevere if you want to hold onto your house. However, i would complain to the education authority if i was told i couldnt send my sons to school with a packed lunch. I am sorry, healthy eating or not, i have never heard of such lunacy.

I am keeping on keeping on, if you see what I mean. I do not have any other option you are right. I am determined to keep this house and am working on a big job for someone today to earn some money :) so i will be off soon...I am not complaining. Its just that people are fed the myth that its possible to work and have a family and 'have it all' and theres so much help about IT'S A LIE. All you get is a bit of everything and all of nothing! I am firmly but subtly putting my foot down.
I have sent my son to school with a packed lunch today. Yesterday they gave him a school meal despite having a packed lunch with him! Apparently schools can do this, they set their own policy it is not dictated by the LEA.

I have twice tried to go out to work, and twice its not worked out so i have quit. I am fortunate that i am not in the position where i dont have to work as my husband has a trade and is paid accordingly. We do not have all things in life we would like but as long as we are all fine i dont care. You are in the unfortunate position where you dont have a strong supporting network around you and it is down to you to provide for your family, so it is going to be difficult - but you have a lot of determination, that comes out in your posts and are strong. I am sure so long as you keep chugging away and staying in your house is your goal, you will succeed.

Afterschool, I am trying to pick him up a couple of times a week a bit early but that does mean my business will have to take a bit of a back seat. They seemed to have relented somewhat anyway. Doing my head in, they keep changing their tack.
I do feel like I am being picked on but all I could do is complain to the governors, and I am the vice-chair
But not for the club, presumably, and they must have a complaints policy. Now you might not necessarily want to ask for it now if things have settled down a bit, but you might want to check if they have given it to you already - we used to give it out with about 600 other bits of paper all outlining our policies.

You might also want to make a note of what you've been told, when and who by at the club.

I hope your youngest settles in soon. It may just be an 'early days' situation - even if he's been used to full daycare it was somewhere different, and school can be a big challenge!

sarah, i am on the commitee for our asc, and we have to have a complaints procedure, due to having to be ofstead registered.
all complaints are then forwarded to the office holding committee members and decisions made from there after discussions with the staff, the child and parent.
they must have one, and if you are still having problems with the way they are treating you, let me know, and i'll look into it further for you as to what your rights are, and what you can do.
i really hope you get it sorted.

    Hi Sarah,

Sorry to hear of your problems. Just wanted to say that your school were spouting rubbish when they were using the Healthy Eating status to say your child couldn't have a packed lunch until after xmas. My son has just started school and his school has the Healthy Eating status too, and he was allowed a packed lunch from day 1. I also think this Healthy Eating Award is rubbish anyway, as they still seem to be served cr*p.

  • Hi Sarah
I know that were not to far from each other. When I was considering a child minder for my little girl I visited a childcare place. Its near Barclays in town almost next door to the main post office. I cannot remember what its called but it had a brown and white sign. This is the place that im sure will help you. They printed me off an up to date document with all of the registered careers in my postcode area. This detaied their charges and what sort of things that they do with the children.
The staff were so so helpful.
I know it means a trip inot town for you but why not go and see them. Im sure that they will be able to help you.
Good luck I know it can be hard sometimes. Mollies 1 now and if I didnt have my Mum I dont know how id cope. Because she has her while im at work and she calls herself Mollies full time Grandma now. Ive even took on more hours at work which means we should be able to move next year.
If you need any more info on this place please let me know
I think it could be called childcare alliance but I may well be wrong
