If dogs are unrehomable or unhappy with long term kennel life all rehoming organisations usually PTS, I imagine BDH not any different.

However as they are so large they have good behaviourists who can work through many problems.

Smaller charities can oftne be scathing of the larger ones, and often a "small cat charity" is one lady rehoming to those she knows... and the consequences of then not having a PTS policy leads to mayhem!!

I am afraid with unwanted animals in this countyr it is a numbers game with too few homes and too many animals.

Luckily it sounds like this little guy will be alright - BDH have waiting list of people looking for small short haired dogs, abd BT's are v popular in London.

new update on jasper or his new name carrot battersea named him.someone on their waiting list has first priority for him and it will be a working home.so pleased this little guy will have a good home but will know mor on monday.

Ah I am so pleased this had a happy ending.
When we lived in a rented house that didn't allow pets, we used to foster dogs that had been given in to my OH's police station or found wandering as strays. Sometimes we just had them overnight until the dog warden picked them up in the morning (we have Birmingham dogs home locally who never put a healthy dog down), and other times we had them for 28 days while they waited for their owner to collect them if there was no space at the dogs home. We loved it but got very attached, especially to a very very naughty staff puppy who bit our feet constantly and could open any door including the front door! Goodness know how we put up with him but I balled my eyes out when he left. We still have a photo of him up in the house. He got a loving home with an experienced single man so I hope he has shaped up into a respectable young dog now!
The first time OH took me to his police station kennel, it was covered in poo and was dark and frightening for the dogs. I told him never to leave a dog there at the end of his shift and to bring it home until the warden could get it. They usually stay in the police kennel overnight or at the weekend when the warden is not on.

When we were in a position to have our own dog, we got him from the Dog's home as we knew how many wonderful dogs were there through no fault of their own. We can't foster any more though, as our new boy doesn't get on with other dogs.

If I could make one dog's life just that tiny bit happier even for a couple of days, with a nice meal, a warm sofa and a big cuddle, then I don't mind cleaning up the poo, getting bitten on the feet, and chasing mad staffs round the house at 3am, It's all worth it!
