The price has to reflect that the Mk3 is nearing the end of its production run; the price guides are out of date so the "real" value an '04 car with approx 12k miles from a dealer should be approx £6.5k (or less). Old model BMW/Merc/Audi all have some value at 6 years old and/or 150k miles; a Mundano is worthless and that needs to be worked into the price at some stage. And yet the Mundano is arguably the better car like-for-like.
The Ford badge kills residuals but unlike the Sierra and Cortina there are some Mundano repairs which cost, eg clutch. But if the clutch doesn't go then that's not a problem ... but something else might be.
The problem with buying an '04 1.8LX is that it could be priced as high as £10k by a dealer, but 2 years later it might not sell for £4k. And it's only a Mundano.0
