    Hi all,

Thanks for all your good wishes re my job :)

    Another update:

The Letting agency is refusing to return the bond I paid, saying I will have to go through my solicitor. I expected to lose the admin fee of £151 but was originally told last week that as I had not signed the tenancy agreement I would get refunded for the bond - £475.

After I was told that I received a phone call saying they would redo the contract for a 6 month tenancy. That’s when (as stated on my previous posts) I said my guarantor would be away and that I wanted to delay moving in from this week to moving in 2 weeks time.

Anyway, I went to their office yesterday and said I wanted to pull out and asked for the bond money back and they said no! There were a couple of things in their terms and conditions that I wasn’t happy with anyway and as far as I’m aware they have not been changed. Regardless of my current situation, I would have pulled out anyway due to those reasons.

I tried phoning them this morning and they point blank refuse to talk to me and say put it through your solicitor. I wouldn’t mind but I have not raised my voice to them and dealt with it in a reasonable manner (I don’t believe that shouting gets you anywhere) so I told them that refusing to talk to me was unreasonable.

I am going to seek advice on this, tried the CAB this morning but they said I need to make an appointment, with me starting the new job next week I can’t do that. They recommended I ring the National Debtline for advice, so I am going to do that this afternoon.

Another worry is my new employer has rung and asked me to get a disclosure done online and they’ll refund me the money, that’s not a worry in itself but it has got me wondering if they may come back and say they want to do a credit check next! If that happens I’m stuffed.

I hope I’m worrying for nothing; the “shine” of getting the job is not so bright anymore.

The LA returned my bond in full :)

I have also recieved my contract for the new job and no mention of credit checks! It had a medical questionnaire and said subject to satisfactory references - there'll be no problems there, so I am hoping that's that!

    Thanks Tigerfeet :)

TBH, I'm feeling a mixture of apprehension and joy, to be expected though really - having not been in the "job market" for just over five years!!
