Thanks tigerfeet and fully understand what you’re saying about the 6 years bad credit rating and reading between the lines, how we may well be just delaying the inevitable!

If I am successful on the job front, it’s only the job that has invited me back for a second interview that would pay enough to save the house. The other two jobs I am being interviewed for pay a lot less and keeping the house would not be an option.

The worry of filing for BR if I do get the job, at 52, and in the worst case scenario – I get the sack, the chances of gaining other employment could be very slim!

We have not pulled out of the rental property choice at this stage; as long as we haven’t signed the tenancy agreement the deposit will be returned to us. We are delaying it until I see if I get this job or not! I know it may not sound ethical but it’s all about survival now.

The LA agreed to a 6 month tenancy which has to be signed by my guarantor who conveniently happens to be away for a fortnight! It’s their own fault, promising us a 6 month, rolling tenancy then reneging and doing a 3 month, I have no qualms where they’re concerned. The house has been on the rental market for at least six months and empty so a couple more weeks won’t make much difference to the LL.

I’ve a feeling I’ll know before the weeks out, therefore enabling me to make a firm decision, at least then I won't be dithering !! Thanks again :)

Hi RF - please don't sign any lease you're not happy with. My OH and I always rush in to things like that and it sometimes (often!) comes back to haunt us!

Thanks once more tigerfeet, I will post later on in the week to say how things have progressed. :)

Thanks fiveyearplan, no we won't rush into signing a tenancy agreement unless we are 100% sure of what we're doing. We have been very annoyed had we got to the LA next week to sign and had a 3 month tenancy presented to us, I would have pulled out that's for sure. There's no way we would want the very real possibility of having to move on again that quickly!!
  • Just to say all the best rf, its all been a struggle, not quite knowing what action to take, but am sure you'll get there. Nothing really constructive to say

Just got back from my second interview and I've been offered the job - I start next week. I can't tell you after months of sending more applications than I care to remember, the relief is unbelievable.

I will be able to maintain the mortgage and I will just have to see how creditors react to payments offered. I will be able to up the amount from the token £1 currently offered, albeit to not a great deal. It will be a game of wait and see for now until I feel comfortable about filing for BR ,or of course, if I'm not given a choice and one of them makes me BR!!

Still, I'm not going to let that take the shine off my getting the job for now!
