Dual system Great savings?

I am considering putting in a multifuel stove/boiler and linking it to my existing oil system. Cost of the new addition £2500 to £3000. I have good access to cheap wood (hardwood). Done the calculations and it could save me £700 to £1000 per year. :j Expect to use the multifuel system as my primary system and the oil as a backup. Will be using a Dunsley neturaliser to connect the systems.

This seems a no brainer but has anyone had any experiance in dual systems and are there any problems you have experianced.

There are a couple of threads on this subject.

As I have such a system, I have made some comments about the difficulties.

I have not got a Dunsley neturaliser and this quote from their website sums up my experience.

The difficulties lie in linking the boilers, so that one boiler when in operation does not supply the second boiler with hot water when it is not in operation. Attempts to link boilers in domestic situations have resulted in solutions which are either dangerous, expensive, complex or a combination of all three.

The Dunsley appliance is pretty complicated itself, 9 connections and can't be used with a sealed CH system.

I wish I hadn't specified the system when I had my house built, it is frankly(for me) more trouble than it is worth.

However the Dunsley device might be the answer.
