Free NTL phone rental for B/B users

I am a NTL broadband user and today I had a letter from NTL.
It said if I switch to NTL for my telephone I can have free telephone line rental for 12 months, worth £114.

Currently with BT plus use caller display, anything I need to be aware of before changing?

In most areas you cant get caller display with NTL, also you dont get free calls with 1866 or 18899 NTL sneaky things charge you. Otherwise I dont have a problem with their phone lines. ;D

I just rang NTL CS and after the 1st year free expires, phone rental plus caller display works out at £33.75 pr qtr presumably plus VAT.

BT charge me £31.26 plus VAT per qtr inc caller display.

No charge to fit NTL connection and same numbers etc etc.

I forgot to ask if caller display is available where I live, however the CSA didn't ask where I lived but he would had my phone code displayed on his screen, just said £1.75 pm, I may have to double check on that one.

I am always suspicious when someone gives you something for nothing but on the face of it it does appear to be a good deal.

Any comments from anyone before I jump most welcome.
