synchronising outlook contacts with nokia phone?
I hope someone can help me with this.
I have a Nokia 6230 and I want to synchronize my MS outlook contacts with my phone. I have the DKU-2 cable which connects my phone to the pc via usb port. However, the nokia software which comes in the box "PC suite" is very basic as it does not synchronize with outlook. It is a useless piece of software and I am ver surprised that nokia haven't thought of this.
One way around this is to convert each contact in outlook into .VCF files and then open it into PC suite software, then pass it on to the phone. However, you have to save each contact as .VCF file individually and if you have around 200 contacts it is very time consuming. I would appreciate it if anyone knows how to convert all the outlook contacts into .VCF format in one go rather than individually (I have XP OS and outlook 2003).
Otherwise, if anyone knows of a good free software that will work with nokia 6230 and synchronise with outlook then please infor me.
many thanks

variety of possibilities here:
1. get the latest version of pc suite for your phone and OS (see here: http://europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,6771,54000,00.html)
2. ensure the phone is in the idle position (first screen you see when you turn it on) and that the keypad isn't locked - if not this will kill the sync.
3. people have reported issues with the format and in some cases the number of contacts being sync'd - it's worth creating a sub folder in contacts and putting a very basic set in there (strip out all the extra info like business addresses, fax numbers etc and watch for unusual characters in names and so on - try sync'ing that to start with. if that works then try adding more complex contacts until you find what breaks it.
4. sync contacts and calendar seperately to begin with - calendar alarms are reported in some cases to be problematic and the same procedure will be required (sync a week or so in the calendar and make sure there are only simple events in the selected week etc etc) to see what breaks the calendar sync."Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." (Mark Twain)0 -
