Trying to leave Orange
I use international texting quite a bit from the uk and Orange have just said they are increasing their prices. I've had loads of problems with coverage and dropped calls etc and thought Id be able to cancel my contract with them due to the increase. Surely that cant get you to sign a 12 month contract and then increase their prices? They firstly denied any knowledge of the price increase and then of their own terms and conditions. So I sent these through and I have the reply that international text/calling is an additional service that I chose whether I use or not! Does that mean using my phone for calls is an additional service?? If I want to leave, I have to pay... but that cant be right if they decide to change their prices?

if you want to leave your 12-month contract before the 12 months are up, you will be liable to pay the remainder months line rental.
i think most mobile companies also state in their T&C's that they can increase prices as long as they inform you.
so there will be no chance of you cancelling your contract dues to their price increases.
sorry, i guess this wasnt what you want to hear0 -
Thanks for the info bonvonnie... I guess it was worth trying with Orange. It does seem a bit unfair they can do that, but that's life (and dealing with mobile phone co's). Think Ill go back to voda once my contract is up as the service on Orange is poor despite being able to make free 0800 calls etc.0

While you're still on Orange (this also works on other providers too), you might want to try smsbug. Lets you text anywhere in the world for 2p per text.

I have a couple of months remaining and will give this a go. Ive also found Orange to be quite unrealiable for texting, not sure if its my phone or the network but I am on the 5th replacement of my 6230 now!0
