cheapest way to stay in London?

Hi
I was wondering if anyone knew the cheapest options of staying in London?
I am looking at taking my DS on the 20th for 2 nights for the west end live thing.
Our train from the north will be I think around £84 return for both of us with a family rail card, if they still have those tickets when/if I book them.
cheapest I've found, although not looked at many places yet is £170 I think that was a travelodge near kings cross. Would prefer to be either near Kings cross station or nearer Leicester square area if possible. I know it is more expensive to stay there, but wasn't sure if there were cheaper options, other than a tent!
:rotfl:
Might not even get there yet, just working out costs.
Thanks
Yvonne

Kings Cross travelodge is right beside the very busy mainline station and the reviews are not good, due to the constant noise of trains. Go on this link to see what 2 for 1 offers are on at the holiday inn. Kings cross with indoor pool £67 Regents park is £67 per night and Kensington forum £72. Check out reviews on http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ to find out which one would suit your needs.

Looks like there are three now in LondonJeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
I come to london quite regularly as a Burlesque performer and i don't get paid very much so when i go i stay at the Generator backpackers hostel just by Kings Cross. I suppose it depends how young your kids are but it works out at about £30 a head per night and if there's a group of you you might be able to get a private room.
Hope this helps

do you have any tesco clubcard vouchers to use as they have some new deals with hotels and some are london based - you get 4 times value of your vouchers0

Have a look at the 'Hoxton hotel' thread. (Sorry can't do link)
Some MSE's have spare £29 rooms they are trying to pass on.
The Hoxton is not near Kings Cross/Leicester Square more near Liverpool street but may be suitable.0 -

Do check out the London Hostels run by the yha too. Family rooms for all sizes of family and some ensuite rooms too so worth looking into!

Hi
Thanks for all of those, that's great. Will take a look through all of those options and hopefully something might be suitable.
Don't get to London that often so don't really have a clue. Taken DS once and he's itching to go back, especially to the west end.0 -
Just looked at the premier travel inn at Euston, would be an ideal position but says it is noisy. Has anyone been and what is it like? Not too worried about outside noise, unless it is hideously bad?

Not an MSE price but not too bad? I've stayed in other premier travel inn's and I like them.0 -
My sisters boss flys into the Uk frequently and likes the Ibis in Euston best, if he is not entertaining and putting clients up at the Hilton. He is quite particular, so I would imagine it must be good. Maybe worth a look at?0
