My porting nightmare HELP!!!

Ok, here goes............
Have had PAYG orange for years & want to keep the number.
Have just taken out new monthly contract with orange via OSPS
Didn't realise that I could port my PAYG no. to contract no. directly with Orange, so, I used a spare virgin PAYG sim to port my number with the intention of porting back to orange after a couple of days.
So, when my new phone & sim arrived, I rang Orange to activate & they suggested I port my PAYG no. over to my new contract. I explained that I had already done this with Virgin, but Orange said it wouldn't be a problem.
However, yesterday, my new phone & sim stopped working & my Virgin sim now has my old PAYG orange no. I rang Virgin and got my PAC code, telephoned Orange back who said that I no longer have a contract with them!
Totally confused now.
I'm paying £30 a month for a sim that doesn't work
The guy at Orange has told me to phone CS tomorrow between 9 & 5 to arrange porting, but, how can they port a number over when they tell me that I don't have a contract with them?
Can anyone help???

Sounds like you have the same problem as David Cameron - should it be a centre parting or to the side parting;)
Whoops sorry - a porting nightmare.
From what you're said the number presently resides with Virgin (yes?) was this ever ported back to Orange?
Was it ported back to Orange and that was when your SIM stopped working - or is this a different issue.
You'll have paperwork and a contract number from OSPS to verify the contract - I would get OSPS to sort it out with Orange and allow them to sort the port from Virgin.0 -

I will try their CS tomorrow, but going on past experience, don't hold out much hope."Hope for the Best
