Zen or Waitrose?

Options
The above two companies are recommended by the mag Which as best suppliers of B Band.
Has anyone on this site got either of these and if so, how do you rate them?
I am looking at all BBand as there are so many now and not all are reliable, just reading through this forum is showing me that it seems not many people are happy with their supplier and keep swopping and changing.

Any good recommendations?

Zen are a proper ISP, Waitrose are a supermarket. Who would you rather have providing your internet, someone who specialises in it or someone who sells tins of beans?

Waitrose Broadband is supplied by Brightview who are now a subsidary of BT, see http://www.brightview.com/home/index.html.
For comparison purposes, look at Madasfish - another Brightview isp.

I was with Waitrose Broadband for over a year with no major problems and only changed to Greenbee to get a combined broadband/phone package.

Waitrose do have a 5GB monthly usage so is not suitable for heavy users but calls to support are a freephone (0800) number.

I've been with Zen for the last 12 months and their reliability and service is second to none. The only problem I've had was the connection started to drop whenever the phone rang , after changing the splitters and all the usual checks I called Zen and it was sorted within 5 minutes. They even rang me the day after to make sure everything was ok. Contract is only 30 days so there's nothing to lose.

Is this still the case? I have Waitrose and don't really have any complaints except is it a bit expensive. Have line rental with BT. Use 18185 for overseas and UK calls. Was thinking of going to Plusnet but heard they were with BT and also adminster Waitrose. Aargh how to save money?? Is Zen still around?

Zen never went away, I have had Zen for 5+ years, the help desk is UK based and they know their stuff, they are extremely helpful if you ever have to call.

Not the cheapest but well worth it for the quality of service.

You should base your decision on which LLU operators are on your exchange, not on a national survey that does not reflect local service availability. See samknows.com
O2 is also ranked high in all the surveys but only if you can get it on an LLU basis.

I highly reccommend Demon. Been with them 4+ years, very quick at fixing problems, and they are part of Cable & Wireless, so are unlikely to go bust anytime soon.
