Some buses have cameras fitted to catch people using bus lanes (my OH got done in London )

Don't know if they have that system elsewhere though.

tbh, im having trouble understanding how people coming into Colchester keep missing the speed camera signs at the Nayland Road junction. to turn into Nayland Road heading into colchester, the road is totally offset, so its not like its easy to turn into it, as you cross the mini roundabout. The only way local people have been caught out, is going along the Nayland Road away from colchester, as its not until you reach the junction you realise you have gone through a bus only lane. This is mainly by oblivious locals, who are on auto-pilot and have forgotten the traffic has now been rerouted via Mill Road.

But just for clarification, there are no cameras on any bus lanes in Colchester (other than at Nayland Road), nor are there cameras on buses, but there are alot of blanket signs up saying you are in a camea area. All cameras in Colchester are highly visible, and are on every main road within 1 mile of the town centre, and are aimed at speeders, not bus lane users

i exited a roundabout straight onto the bus lane...wasnt possible /safe at all to do anything but carry on..the lane was only 50 yards long

I think I know the bit you mean and IIRC it's either not signed or very poorly signed. I'm forever seeing cars on it, so I wouldn't worry too much. :)

It's signed, it also causes a lot of congestion. The cars you see on it may be taxis as they can use it - or a hacked off local taking a chance!
No reliance should be placed on the above.
