This is probably another of those situations where you're best going against your best instincts, soon as you spot it stop (even if there is buses approaching) and do your best to stop entering the bus lane.
Just like you should not go through a red light if an ambulance is behind you as you can be fined.0 -
i exited a roundabout straight onto the bus lane...wasnt possible /safe at all to do anything but carry on..the lane was only 50 yards long0

you wont get any points but if you have been seen you will be fined but appealIf you dont like me remember its mind over matter, I dont mind and you dont matter0
-
you say appeal?? and say what? i was in the wrong but it was a genuine mistake, didnt see any signage until the road said bus lane in front of me..i spose there was signs but it was raining and we were lost0

As far as I know there are no bus lane cameras in Colchester, in fact I dont think there are any in any town in East Anglia from memory (Southend, Ipswich, Colchester, Chelmsford, Cambridge, Norwich, Lowestoft, Peterborough) - I've never seen one in any of these.Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!
There are three types of people in the world, those who can add up and those who can't.0 -
well on our way out of colchester on the nayland road there was a 10 meter section of bus/taxi only lane stopping you getting through....i noticed that one in time and also saw it had some kind on camera system mounted above
stupid really as we'd drove a good couple miles only to have to turn around and go back...very poor use of signs and we could do without wasting fuel these days0 -
the only bus lane i know of in Colchester with a camera is the one mentioned above at Nayland Road. however, i think from reports in the local paper, its never been switched on.
if you went down a buslane right in the town centre though, there are no cameras.

from the way you describe it as only being 50yds long, i would say it was the one by Wickes near the station. if so, there are no cameras, but the local traffic police do like to stake it out, but they stop you and issue the fine on the spot. made them loads of money when they changed the road, as you can still drive down it in the opposite direction, so it was a tad confusing for a while.

Turned into this road today as we were lost and decided to pull over into a side road to look at a map. First time in colchester was trying to get to Peldon and do not know the area at all. Noticed to late the cameras but did not see any flashes. Looking on this forum it seems they may not work. Quite wrong for there position as not in the town centre where it was busy with traffic.
Whats annoying is i have a clean record on my licence and accident free for 15 years and also a member of IAM. Feel total stupid at not noticing the signs or cameras until to late.:mad:0
