We've had a couple of instances of lost parcels to Italy and I'm told that the Italian system is massively behind because of a processing "bottleneck" at the airport stage.

You can send it Air Sure which seems to deal with the problem. We've just started sending items that way and paying the additional postage ourselves... saves the hassle...

According to the Royal Mail website Airsure isn't available to Italy?

custardy, I'm just a bit fed up to be honest, my recorded delivery item from Monday doesn't show as delivered and my seller won't refund until I can prove they have it. I've also got a pile of complaints just waiting to go in to RM for the items that were sent unstamped..so you will have to ignore me.

I sent something out and it's still not showing as delivered, and it doesn't seem as though the buyer wants to phone their DO to find out if they still have their item.... grrr, it's so annoying!! My OH works for RM and it's all so frustrating.

Buyers are often reluctant to hang on the phone for 20 minutes waiting for their local office to answer..call them yourself if you are concerned. otherwise just assume item has arrived and has just not been tracked.

Obviously if buyer contacts you to say item has not been received and the recorded doesn't track then you will have to refund anyway.

Incidentally, none of my recent recorded items ever tracked, so I have a batch of forms from the PO on their way in the post now to claim back the recorded element . Luckily most of mine were work so I am not in any dispute fears there as I know they have arrived, the others have all had buyers leave positive feedback and the seller I returned somethign to has started the refund process, so I hope that means they all got their items.

Just as an update I obviously refunded my buyer and he has left me positive feedback. I also left him positive feedbackwhich mentioned lost in post, and now looking at his feedback received he has apparently been refunded for around 8 items in the past 3 months. He even left a neg for someone who refused a payout initially (he mentions getting it via paypal) and the unfortunate seller has responded saying that item was tracked and buyer is lying.

Ho hum, either the Italian system is very very ba din some areas, or this is an example of one of those rogue buyers that ebay reckon don't exist.

I would have to say that if I this much trouble with my post then I might well give up buying for a while.

Sounds like the guy i posted on here about yesterday, and every day more events keep happening. He`s now asked me for the money back for one of the games ive sent to him. And after checking his history so far i have seen about 10 different user names that he has. But i`ve just become a power seller and had a lady on the phone from ebay and apparently its being looked into. All she could say at the time was that it looked fishy.

There is no reason at all why a user can't change their user name as often as they are allowed, it all stillshows up when you check feedback and history. However, I do wonder if the problems with Italian post are now getting too well known and are being used for less honest means.

I have actually removed overseas shipping now for most of my auctions as I am listing very little stock now and I can't take the risk of a disgruntled overseas buyer negging me for a late or lost item. I know I am losing out on some sales as I'm still getting enquiries from people asking if I can open up the items to overseas bidders, but I'm going to stick with it for a few weeks until I am happy that problems are being ironed out and then I'll have a rethink.
