:T I think down here in Wales you could pick up a few bargains.
Prices tend to be lower up in the valleys.
I'm not sure why cos the people are friendly and some of the views of the Rhigos mountains, for example, or the Afan Valley, are beautiful.
I suppose being stuck up in a valley will be difficult when we run out of fuel.
I live at the bottom of the Rhigos mountain....
You can pick up a decent enough 3 bed terrace for £70-80k easily.
For example....

The reason in my opinion it is so cheap up here is there are NO JOBS! I would imagine a high percentage of people living in the valley travel outside to earn a decent wage, i.e Swansea/Cardiff/Ponypridd/Bridgend/Llantrisant. Which is what i do....
With this comes massive traffic problems travelling through the valley as there is only one bypass road which is roughly 1-2 mile long, the rest of the journey is through little towns which the roads were originally designed for the odd horse and cariage carrying coal down the valley 150 years ago. The roads havent changed since then yet we now have thousands of cars struggling to get home at peak times.
Public transport is useless around here. Buses are expensive to get anywhere. A train is only helpful if you want to travel to Ponypridd/Cardiff. 20 miles away from cardiff yet it takes 60-80 mins by train to get there.
Pick the right area to live in the rhondda and you cant go wrong. People are very friendly (well most
) and i would say there is more of a community spirit than anywhere else in the UK.
But i am personally looking at moving from this area and live closer to where i work and closer to the M4, i just cant handle the traffic issues to get to anywhere at peak times.0 -
Enjoying checking these bargains out - thanks guys. I nominate picture 9 on this one for the Gold Award for Best EA's Photographic Skills & maybe the Platinum Award for Vendor Pre-Sale Property Dressing

Picture 8 is also a gloom-fest, enhanced by the lurking oversized stuffed animals.

e.g.
Who can find a link to the cheapest, habitable 2-bed terraced/semi house that isn't ex-LA/HA, isn't SO, isn't a mobile home, not a retirement property, no holiday homes or restricted covenants. Not an auction guide price.
A regular, 2-bed terraced/semi, mortgageable property, ready to move into.
Beat the last person's house price, here's one for openers, just to get the ball rolling:
£38,950 http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-20675552.rsp?pa_n=1&tr_t=buy
(borderline as it says needs modernisation, but it has a kitchen and looks all right to me)
I can find loads needing updating from £150,000 in Crawley, but I'm sure they are all ex-LA.
How do I eliminate LA from my search?0 -
exactly, plus mobile homes, retirement, shared ownership and so on0
