Save with Pipex broadband...

Options
Hi,

This is my first post, so be gentle :-)

I currently have a broadband account with Pipex for £24.99/mth on one of their unlimited packages (as I'm a heavy user). My 12mth contract term is due to complete in July, so I thought, why not?

I just rang sales and asked them what incentive I'd get for staying with them? After a minute or so, they came straight back with....£14.99/mth, still unlimited and uncapped, same speed and account details, plus free wireless router and all on a rolling monthly contract only, from July!

All this for a five minute phone call to a freephone number (0800 912 1642). The number quoted is for their business centre, but they put me through to residential when I explained what I wanted.

I hope this helps someone else :D

Regards,
Leaston

    Morning,
I have just tried your freephone number and got through, they denied being Pipex and said they couldn't put me through but would get Pipex to ring me back. I said I was after an upgrade, ho hum! I want to get as far away from them as I can, but at least I might get someone on the phone to talk to me. They also said they were having problems with the phone today, maybe dozens of other irate Pipex customers have read your posting and deluged them with calls. Bring it on. Thanks for the info.

I can't believe they denied being Pipex! How strange is that? That number was taken directly from the front page of the Pipex Business accounts website yesterday. Maybe they have been flooded with calls. Crikey.

As for having problems with them. In my experience, they are no better or worse than any other ISP. Not one of them has a 100% (or even close) track record for customer satisfaction, so it's a case of better the devil you know for me. I've used Pipex in both business and residential settings for a number of years and with the odd exception found them to be ok. Now, if you want me to rant, just mention BT!!!!! Spawn of evil, that lot!!!

Hmmm, I hadn't heard about any of that. To be honest, I was surprised when I was taken to the Tiscali website yesterday after clicking on a Pipex link. Thanks for the heads up. I'm just thankful that I'll soon be on a month by month contract! Regards, Leaston
