Make sure you go to see her squirm!!!

  • Well done..have o say after readin this only one point to make, in my opinion whoever was wrong or right was irrelevant, IF the store peson had been polite and apologetic explaining they were unable to put things by it would have ended there liz would have been a little glum but that would have been it, unforunetely attitudes are awful now because people dont care. The resulting apologetic phone call shows that you have to care for customers as they can and will go elsewhere, ehh the old days of corner shops and a chair to sit in!!!
I wished upon a star tonight that I would see you once more,
To hold you in my arms and tell you how much I love you,
To hear your voice, to kiss your cheek oh for just one more time,
But all I have are memories and a heart full of love and tears.

£10 gift voucher arrived in the post and a personal apology from the woman in question when I went to spend it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice one :D I hope it made her sick!! what a nasty piece of work that woman seems to be.
  • Thanks, a good lesson for all of us on how to effectively complain.
  • Lovely result - id have been in immediately witha large smug grin!

IVAN - I think the main problem here was, as others have pointed out, basic manners!
I too have worked in CS and have had situations where I could just not do what the customer wanted and have handled it politely and usually they come round - apart from the time I told one woman to F off - and she was lucky it wasnt in a shop coz with her gob id have slapped her!!!!
:D I understand ALOT more than I care to let on :D

But the point I was trying to make was that there were other solutions and this really was a very trivial matter that did not need for anyone to get upset (or use emotional blackmail).

By the way Liz, congratulations on the result ... hopefully you can buy DD something nice for Christmas ... either that or buy yourself a large bar of chocolate.

I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!

Many shops used to be more than willing to phone around and get stuff transferred from one store to another ... not any more, simply because Joe public abused the system.

:T Soooooo true. So many people abuse customer service that they have now spoilt things for the genuine customer. I no longer allow things in our store to be saved. It causes too many problems & with so much pressure to make money and increasing sales targets in difficult trading times it is also 'lost money'. I could have possibly sold that item 3 times over whilst we wait for someone to collect it after saving it for 2 days. They either never return as they have purchased it elsewhere and not told us or as Ivan has also mentioned they return 4 days later and expect it to still be waiting :rotfl:

Naaah, we dont bother. Buy it now or take ya chances!!

I dont respond very well to emotional blackmail either Ivan - if only people realised that they'd get so much further with me :D
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
  • I have to go with Ivan on this one, when i worked for Blockbusters we had so many instances of doing favours for customers such as holding stock and we would have to have a clear out on a regular basis coz people never came back.

And when ur in the Video/dvd business the value drops on a weekly basis specially if its exrental.

I remember one time we were doing pre-sales for i think the PS2 Slimline and had a pre-order for one...After two weeks anyone that hadn't collected it and paid for it got their deposit credited onto their account with a note expalining the credit. Anyway a week after we had done this a women came in expecting her slim PS2 (3 weeks after its release) but we had sold out.....obv she was not impressed and laid into us but did she really expect us to keep a PS2 slimline for her forever, we had no guarentee that she would return and £110 in the till is alot better than £15 deposit and the stock on the shelf!!!

Obv is shes rude its not right and it doesn't help with conflicting views......

well done for getting an apology and enjoy the tenner if u havn't already spent it.

    Cheers

    Will
