Nokia 6300 PAYG question
I currently have an old Nokia PAYG phone with Orange. I am interested in buying a Nokia 6300 PAYG with Orange.
Question:
(1) Can I just remove the SIM card that comes with the Nokia 6300 and replace it with my current Orange PAYG SIM card?
(2) I noticed that the Nokia 6300 PAYG with O2 is cheaper than Nokia 6300 PAYG with Orange at several retailers eg Carphonewarehouse. How much does it cost to unlock a Nokia 6300 PAYG with O2 so that I can use it with my existing Orange sim card and where can I get it unlock?
Hope I have made myself clear with the questions above. Not very technical when it comes to mobile phones.
Thanks in advance.

it depends where you buy the phone if yuou buy it direct with orange it will be locked onto orange, easiest way is to do a pay as you go upgrade as otherwise you may end up with credit on a new number you dont need (you can transfer the credit but its a hassle) and from tomorrow orange stores are doing a free bluetooth headset with PAUG phones
check with CPW when you buy if it is already unlocked, may already be, plus keep in mind if u buy it on o2 you'll have to buy at least about £10 top up plus the cost of unlocking (not sure if it can be done for free by code othwerwise dont pay more than £5-£10) so is it really cheaper?Yes Your Dukeiness0 -
CPW 6300 stock will be useable on any network, so just buy the cheapest one they have and put your exisiting SIM in it!Keep the right company because life's a limited business.0

Thanks for both replies. Might pop round to CPW to check out the Nokia 6300 phones.

I would put your orange simcard into the 6300 on O2 first! You never know it might be locked.
It is however very cheap to unlock the 6300, the cheap turbo sims will unlock it.0 -
Bought a Nokia 6300 on O2 PAYG with CPW on the internet. Took out the SIM card and replaced with existing Orange SIM card and it worked. Thanks a lot to Boinging. :beer:0
