Boots have now stopped the spend £25 and get 500 points offer - its £75 and 1500 instead - this is only with infant formula over 6 months. The reason there are rarely offers on infant milks is becuase they are not allowed to advertise or offer incentives on any milks for under 6 months due to the Breast is Best promotion by the government and by the time your baby is 6 months, most people are brand-loyal and wouldn't switch for better offers so it makes little sense to the marketing departments. Boots occasionally do £1 off offers on the shelf.
I've found the best place to stock up is actually Waitrose as they will accept vouchers without causing problems as long as they sell the product, so for example, the Daily Mail has a £1.45 magazine voucher in it one day, I buy 10 copies for £4, then use the £14.50 vouchers against my 2 packs of baby milk...voila! It takes a bit of planning/working out when to "stock up" on the vouchers, but has cut our baby milk bill down by at least 70% I would say.0 -
I buy mine at the local weight in clinic - all makes are under a £5 each..... they will only let you buy a max of 2 at a time tho!
DD is 7 months now so think I will be changing to follow on milk to save the trip to weigh in every 2 weeks!2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
Just remembered that DD went through a patch at about 4 months when she was throwing up alot and the GP put her on Soya baby milk tinned and we got it free on perscription.

the health visitor mentioned free milk on prescription to me last week but she said the milk of choice at the moment is horrible, i forget the name but it's made of potato and smells foul lol! my brother was on wysoy on prescription and that wasn't very fragrant either.
if your baby has reflux or colic (or both, like my baby!) though i suppose you could ask for soya or staydown milk on prescription. the health visitor said we'd have to be referred to a dietician first though and they'd probably say my baby is okay because he's gaining weight well despite all the vomiting. as for the colic/lactose intolerance we are getting colief on prescription, a GP can prescribe it. it normally costs £9.99 for a bottle that lasts about a week, you add it to the normal milk and it can be added to omneo comfort too, that's lower in lactose than other milks.
i got the impression that soya milk etc. is quite difficult to get free on prescription here. a lot of babies in my family have been on soya but they were losing weight etc. so there were health concerns. my baby's a porker so unless there were other concerns the health visitor thinks i should just ride it out and see if the reflux and lactose intolerance improve over time. using colief gets rid of the lactose in the milk we use, that works okay.52% tight0 -
Just remember!
If you are stocking up on baby milk, please remember that you can't return it to Boots (not sure of other people's policies) as it's one of the things that they DEFINITELY will not refund without a struggle, even if it hasn't been opened...
A while back (not sure when, it may even by an old wives tale) people were opening up baby products and putting in ground up glass. As a result Boots won't take back any baby stuff.
Also, how would you like it if you bought a pack of baby milk which had been taken off the shelf, moved around in uncontrolled temperatures, exposed to the elements etc.... You wouldn't would you? That's one of the other reasons Boots won't refund food of any description (Unless faulty)
Sorry if this sounds telling offy! Just don't want you stocking up on Boot's stuff only to find baby doesn't like/want/need the milk any more....and you can't get a refund back!
And whilst I'm on my Boots bandwagon! Join the parenting club! Lots of free stuff to be had! Link should be on https://www.boots.com somewhere!
