I've really tried, honest, but its baffling me. The whole setup is so busy with buttons and tabs which I mostly dont know what they're for. Then I cant find the buttons/tabs that I do want.
Can anyone recommend a free insruction manual, maybe online?

  • Do you really need to use it? I'm still using the ageing Lotus Word Pro and 1-2-3 programs for my word processor and spreadsheet, having purchased them years ago when Lotus was a serious competitor to Microsoft. I know how to use them and I don't really see the point in migrating to another program which is going to be only marginally "better" if there's a long learning curve.

Obviously if you need Word 2007 at work, that's a different matter, but otherwise I'd stick with what you're used to.

How long have you been using Word 2007? When I first used it, it really annoyed me. I couldn't find anything I wanted. After a couple of weeks of patience I really got used to it and now I really like it. Sure it still has some annoying 'features' and I still can't find what I want sometimes, but I do think it is an improvement. Just keep messing around with it and you'll get there!

Been using Office 2007 for months and I still have to go onto Google to find how to use things.

I work in IT support and am dreading rolling this out to users.

Use the Microsoft Add On Tabs Get Started:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/getstarted/FX101055081033.aspx
Gives you the option to have a 2003 Window do a Command like "Select All, Sort etc" then shows you where it is and how to do it in 2007.
    Cheers
