Hi, no you will need to get the tube (the underground or the subway if your a yank) using a line called the Northern line to a stop called Bank.
At bank you get the docland light railway to Custom House.0 -
ok cool thanks, looking at the map i understand it a little better, being able to see Bank and Custom House, the stops needed ;-)
Time wise, subway to Bank, and DLR to custom house? just so i can link up train times0 -
According to tfl Kings cross -> bank 9mins/10 mins Bank -> cannig town -> custom house 26mins.
Allow extra time at rush hour.
According to the tfl site there may be issues interchanging @ bank but may be resolved by then.0 -
You can go the route I take which is less steps to carry baggage down and up as the transfer at Bank is all steps and alleyways.
Take the Victoria Line to Green Park the Jubilee Line to Canning Town then the DLR to Custom House for ExCel. On the DLR you have to change at Canning Town anyway as the trains from Bank do not go to Custom House for ExCel.
The journey time is about the same.0 -
The DLR trains are driverless most times so you can sit in the front and pretend to be driving the train!
With the motor show now having Ferrari, Maserati and a boat show also part of the action I think most days will be busy.
ExCel and the Victoria dock are also venues for the 2012 Olympics.
Buy a 3 zone tube ticket valid for the day you visit they are good value.0 -
Just as a quick thought (I work in London every day) there are massive escalator refurbs going on at Bank at the minute and they are trying to stop people from using it as an interchange station.
Bear in mind that a single on the tube is £4 now - if there are more than 2 of you going to the show then it would be just as cost effective to get a black cab
Feel free to PM me if you want any more info

Hi Guys,
I'm also going to the British Motorshow this year. Am very excited, its going to be a lovely surprise for o/h. Anyway, I do not know london at all, so am very nervous about organising it all by myself! So we will be catching the train to London Liverpool Street, I kind of get how we need to get to the Excel but on their website it says that from the end of June the DLR will be closed for refurb???
I'm confused, so any help would be apprciated!

TMD - dont worry only Tower Gateway station is closed.
Use Custom House station instead.

Thanks for that. Makes it slightly easier to understand! :-)
Next question, does anyone know of any cheap hotels in the area??
Thanks again

NP - probably best for another thread abuot hotels but you may find that most local hotels will be using higher rates because of the show.0
