Didn't know they required ID and paperwork:confused: They haven't asked me for this (worryingly??). I thought they verified by electoral register. anyone else??

ID verification for savings accounts is standard practice due to Anti Money Laundering regulations. I have about two dozen savings accounts and am pretty sure I've been asked for verification on all of them.
Credit cards/accounts are different and these can be electronically verified via the electoral role. I don't believe I've ever had to confirn ID for these type of accounts.

The standard confirmation e-mail you received when you initailly applied would have stated the requirement to confirm your ID.

"Congratulations, your application for a Kaupthing Edge savings account has been successful. To complete the application process please provide:
    • A copy of your valid Passport (photo page) or
    • A copy of your UK photocard driving licence (we do not accept paper licences)
    And
    • An original Bank statement of your UK nominated linked Bank account, or of another UK Bank or Building Society account in your name, or
    • An original UK credit card statement in your name, or
    • An original utility bill in your name (water, gas or electricity).
The original document will be returned to the address you provided.
Please note that we do not accept photocopies of statements or utility bills, or printed versions from the internet. The statement or utility bill should clearly indicate your name and address and not be older than 3 months."

Not such a 'standard' confirmation e-mail - mine certainly said nothing of the sort:

" Congratulations, your application for a Kaupthing Edge savings account has been successful. What happens now?

I never had to provide any ID paperwork either

You only need to provide ID if they can't verify you electronically. I did not need to provide ID for this or other accounts, and have had no problems.
Noobie (not so :D) trying to make loads a dosh - please bear with all my questions  Thanks :D

Me too, I've never been asked for ID for any on-line accounts, they are usually verified by electoral role, and some just ask for the passport number. Never had a problem at all.

Maybe people who've been asked for printed forms have moved recently, or maybe.... are just a bit dogdy :D

Re trashcan: Remember it's 3-4 working days, which doesn't include the weekends, my first test transfer took 3 days, and Im just waiting on one sent on Monday hopefully it should be there today.

Can't say that I've had any problems with them. Two transfers sent & received by them, one fixed rate account opened, all within the expected time scales.
  • They answer the phone quickly and are polite, but I sent a large transfer to them via CHAPS today, have logged in (eventually, it doesn't seem to like my memorable word), CHAPS payment not showing yet...

Think in terms of emails and letters maybe there is an administration backlog due to popularity, and I'm guessing, it been quite a small operation so far. The payments side of thing wouldn't be effected too much by an administrative backlog though, would they? I've had no problems with any of this so far, for the record though - emails nor payments.
