Saw these http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1087980&classificationid=1001208 in Boots today, didn't look any better than the ones people have made on here, only alot more expensive!

Thanks Cookie! Good link, have it in my faves now. I did some last year, not the same though. I bought oversize mugs, some small bears and added a few sachets of galaxy hot chocs and put some marshmallows in a small cello packet. Added a fun size galaxy. I popped the bear and the items in the mug and them gathered up cello sheet and tied with curling ribbon. I did want to add mini whisks but couldnt find them anywhere last year. This year I am leaving out bears and adding chocolate spoons instead and will print out one of the snowman soups rhymes posted by someone here (sorry, cant think who!!). Oh and adding a 'chocolate' tea light too.
  • Hi Everyone:hello:

Gosh - it took me over 24 hours to get through all these amazing ideas.
You really are a great group of people and an inspiring oasis of excellent crafting projects and websites.

I just wanted to contribute really as it's about a million years since my flannel cake effort!

I hope it's not in too much bad taste, but thinking about the teenager and menfolk products, I took a loo roll and wrapped it in nice tissue paper - popped cotton wool balls in each end and added a circle of tissue paper over the top to disguise it a bit. Then put a clip art funny face on one side and wrote this poem for the other.

I bought this little gift for you
    I thought it was unique
I bet you can't guess what it is
    So trendy and so chic

You'll never get caught short again
Now that you have this chum
    He's 'Charmin' and he's funny
And he'll help you wipe your ... nose!

It's a bit rude, but wondered whether it might make a fun, novelty last minute gift?

    Have a good week.

I didn't expect to get anything done today - and so far I haven't been disappointed.

kast year i made alot of tote bags which went down a treat for spressents and were very cheap to make using end of lines and sale items at fabric shops and make up bags/wraps for the teenagers,

this year i plan to do some more tote bags as they are very useful especially with more shops trying to charge for carriers bags and people being more green, also to do comfort blankets for those cold days curled up on the sofa

I don't suppose you have a pattern for the tote bags do you? :) I COULD just unpick my Tesco hemp thingy one but I'm lazy ;)

I've merged my thread to the original as they seem to be heading the same direction :) I'll start a new one for food gifts to help those who want to make well... food lol and the one for those who prefer keeping clear of the kitchen :rotfl:

Lidl are selling cellophane in rolls - they've got a stationery section - cardboard green shelves - it's on there. Not to sure about the quality - it doesn't look like the thickness you'd get in a florists for instance - but for individual gifts and food gifts it might suit some of you.

  • Hmm anyone on here a good fudge maker? I tried to make it for my dad's birthday yesterday but failled miserably - I used the nestle recipe, but it ended up somewhere in between toffee and fudge in both taste and consistency?!:o Really weird consistency actually - sticky, as in if you left 2 squares next to each other they would melt back into one, but rock hard - it took me no less than 30 minutes with a hot knife to cut it into squares in the first place! :rotfl: Took some round to the neighbours last night to sample - and they were chewing on one square for AGES!!

I don't have a sugar thermometer so followed the instructions to simmer for 15 minutes and tested it in a glass of cold water - it sunk rather quickly!! Did I overcook it do you think?
