Nemo - love the book..:T .............do you mind if print that out ? I'd love to have a go for my grandson for next Christmas.............and can you also help with instructions, like how you put into a book ? Never done anything like that before and I'm sure he;d love it

Wow, just come back from a very hectic weekend! Got up at what felt like the crack of dawn after a heavy late nights crafting/wrapping whilst watching Love Actually to get the train to St. Helens to see my brothers family and my parents who were visiting. Dropped off some presents for my parents to take back in the car so I have less to carry at Christmas, and presents for the nieces (including the book). Had a lovely day, then got the train to Leeds to see some old uni friends. Train was horrible, rammed with drunken singing Leeds United fans who appeared to have lost to Tranmere, but had a lovely night in Leeds at a japanese restaurant and then hot chocolate back at my friends house. Finally Sunday was spent Christmas shopping :(

    Phew!

But yes, what lovely comments you all have made, you've really made me smile! Thank you!

Mary, of course I wouldn't mind you printing it off and I don't mind helping either. I basically made it all up as I went along!

OK - I have a challenge for someone properly crafty. I have about ten old gold-painted wooden curtain rings that are sitting on my table waiting to go to the charity shop, but I've been wondering if I can turn them into some clever Christmas decoration. They're about 10cm wide and are the sort that slide onto a wooden pole.

Any ideas? I also have a matching wooden holdback that screws into the wall - will be very impressed if anyone can come up with a use for that!

Off the top of my head can you make napkin rings out of the curtain rings???

Now the hold back thing is a challenge but could it be used somewhere else to hang something on ie a stocking, a wreath??
  • Someone posted somewhere about curtain rings. Adding a piece of card at the back to make a picture frame and a bit of ribbon to hang it on the tree

Can't remember where it was so will have a nosy

  • ooh here we go, that was surprisingly easy lol

Oooh, you're so clever. I kept thinking about candle holders but then trying to find the right width candle would have been so much faff. Will look at them in a new light tonight when I get home....
  • Well I bought 2 of the fleece blankets from Ikea and have made a double layer blanket for my grandad by tying the fringed ends together, took forever! I was going to fringe the other two sides but think I might just stitch it together now. I then cut out the letters "Snug" from different coloured felt and have tacked them on and then made a little bug from felt that I have sewn on. Looks really cute if I may say so myself :)

  • Funny you should mention the Ikea fleeces, I had one in bed last night as it was rather chilly and you should have seen the sparks fly when I folded it up this morning!!
I'm not sure where or who i got this really cool 3d snowflake template from, (probably on this thread thinking about it) but thought it would be a good idea to mention them again as i'v made them for my office and have got so many comments! Everyone loves them! http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-3D-Paper-Snowflake
