Sammy-kaye18, I was going to try and decorate mine with some nice papers and stickers etc. I have been looking at websites that sell "alterables", its plain stuff that you can decorate yourself, it seems to be huge in America. A lot of people use scrapbooking materials to decorate the objects and they look great.

yes, I'm another one already planning what I need to make for christmas. I love the idea of makeing a gift box of greeting cards Melissia so I may pinch the idea if you don't mind :D

    So far my other idea's are;

making some woven bags for the girls with a few treats put inside,
decorated journals and journal jars for friends,
a couple of family history books and/or charts for family.

    Hi Melissa
I would love to know what website you have been looking at ive got a few ideas for teachers. Im going to decorate a notebook that only cost me £2 and im putting a pen with it (there are lots of free teacher type paper) to download so im going to decorate them with the free paper. Im really into scrapbooking at the moment its very adictive but im loving it. Cost a bit though :o .

MrsBones, I thought I'd give some boxes of cards to some of my older relatives. Its always hard to know what to get for them other than chocolates. Also my other half's family on both sides is HUGE, so everybody always needs cards! Being nosey - what are journal jars? I think I have heard of them, but I'm not sure!
Minimacka, I have just bought some little kits to have a go at scrapbooking, I already make cards so I hope I won't find it too difficult. Have you got any pictures of your work to give me some inspiration? I have looked at loads of websites for "alterables", I am trying to find a cheap one that has a big selection. One that I thought that was quite good was www.carolinezcraftz.co.uk she sells quite a few blank chipboard books and shapes and seems quite cheap! You have to look under "chipboard" as she only has a few things in her "alterables" category. I'll let you know if I find anything else!
MrsMcawber - thanks for the link. I will have a look after I have taken my son to nursery!

I bought some of these glass cordial bottles from Lakeland last weekend:

and am planning on making some flavoured oils and vinegars to go in them for Christmas gifts. Last year I made two demi-johns of Sloe Gin, which will be ready to bottle and give out this Christmas too.

I'm also STILL knitting scraps of wool into tiny scarves (about 5cm x 15cm) which I will eventually turn into long lengths of knitted paper chains. I only discovered these in a shop last November and it didn't give me enough time to make enough for last Christmas, but I've been steadily knitting away since then and have quite a stack of them now!

They'll look something like this :

but mine are mostly red, dark green, gold and purple :)

I'm a cardmaker and will make all my own Christmas cards this year. I sometimes sell cards too to friends who commission me.

There are lots of craft websites out there - so many that my favourites box on my PC is overflowing!

I've got some cards left from those I made last year but I think making a box of cards for friends and relatives is a good idea. My problem is my closest friends are also cardmakers!!!!!

Last year I made fudge for people and put it into boxes that I made and that went down quite well.

Melissa I havent taken any pictures yet of my scrapbook because its for someone who looks in on this website sometimes, when Ive given it to her i will post some of the pictures on here. A great source of inspiration comes from a website called uk scrappers the people on there are really friendly, and are there to help if you have any problems.
